  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm going to break the rules a little bit and combine some of the items into one. To me, several are so intertwined that it doesn't make sense to speak of one without the other. 1 - Reading the Bible/Listening to God/Heart for God - This is where it all starts... Without the Word, we don't...

    Is love above faith?

Interesting question... God's love of us is surely above our love and our faith - without His love for us and the saving grace He grants us this question doesn't matter. But is our faith or our love more important? I must agree with those who say one is not more important than the other and...

    What inspires you?

I definitely have role models in my parents and other church members. I don't have a true mentor, but I do have a very close group of friends who I can be very honest and open with to seek advice. Also not a mentor to anyone, but you never know when someone views you as a role model which is...

    marrying a nonbeliever?

I just finished reading the part of 1 Kings where Solomon has completed building the temple for God and is then lead away from God through his pagan marriages. Granted he had hundreds of pagan wives and you would only have one husband, the point remains that the wisest man who ever lived...

How do you participate in a debate discussion without having anxiety?

I think it is important to keep in perspective what you are arguing. Some things are worth getting fired up about while others are not. I generally get much more wound up defending my Christian faith to non-believers than I do when debating a facet of Christianity with another Christian. If...

    What inspires you?

There a couple of things they inspire me to be the best I can be. One is them is the word of our Lord when he said in Matthew 5:14-16, "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and...

    Getting over my "angry side"....

One thing to keep in mind is you can't make a change like this overnight. It takes prayer and practice to change. Not all anger is bad, as ChildOfGod commented, but you can't let the anger take control of you. One thing that helps me is putting things in perspective... I live in a...

    Evolution of Theology?

It does sound logical for an all powerful, personal God to be able to communicate with you. It is rational to believe in something that cannot be physically detected if other evidence supports its existence. Yes, you must have faith to be saved, but how can you decide which of the talking...

    Evolution of Theology?

It is not alien to theology, but they are not equal. I could know all there is to know about God, but that does not mean I have faith. Conversely I could have stronger faith than the apostles with less theological knowledge than the average lay person. Sure they are related...but they are far...

    Evolution of Theology?

Faith does not equal theology so they must remain two separate animals. They can and should be used in conjunction, but lack of one does not elminate the other and the presence of one does not require the presence of the other. We are instructed to defend our beliefs. Why did Jesus tell...

I would talk to the owner before going to the apartment manager...

    Evolution of Theology?

Some yes and some no. As I said in my earlier post there are several issues here and they can be separate issues since theology does not equal spirituality. I don't think you need a PhD in Theology to be a believer and I certainly don't think that because you have a PhD you are automatically...

    Older woman, Younger Men...

I would personally be against it for practical reasons after a certain point. My wife is just shy of 2 years older than me and we are at very similar points in our lives. We have both left our wilder days behind, we are both active in our church, we both have career goals and aren't just...

How do you study the Bible?

I would highly recommend joining a Bible Study at your church or another church in your community. The Disciple Bible studies are excellent. I did the first two with my church and both years we had people that were not from our church in the class. It is an excellent study that not only...

    Evolution of Theology?

There are several different aspects to consider - a bit of a semantics issue. If you mean strictly theology, I would say we have evolved since the 1st century. But that doesn't mean that we have a deeper understanding of God's will than the 12 disciples and other members of the early church...
