  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is so so painful. I really need prayer.

I have experienced this kind of pain. It is real pain and not just something in your head. You are not alone. In my attempts to relieve the pain I entangled myself in a life of sexual addiction. Ok this might sound strange and trust me I am not trying to make light of your situation. For...

are you saved just because you said a prayer?

Are we currently experiencing eternal life or do we think that the life of God in us, through us, and out from us, is for another time after our earth suits are no longer able to keep us earth bound? Are we right now walking in communion with the creator? Is His breath our breath? Are His words...

are you saved just because you said a prayer?

Making a decision to follow Christ is not the same as following Christ. Jesus called the disciples to drop what they were doing and follow Him. Jesus is still calling us to follow Him. Jesus taught "Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me." Jesus is still teaching "Deny yourself, take...

    struggles with Masturbation

Hey Evenglade, I hope you are stilling checking back on here. I haven't been on for quite a while. Something that I noticed in your last post is that you feel as if you have to give in when those "feelings" begin to overtake you. For many years my goal had been to rid myself of those...

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

I am not sure that I am grasping what you are saying but, Growing up in my non tongue speaking church we would often sing "Alleluia" It had several verses that were simply a matter of repeating the same phrase. There was "We love you Jesus" "Thank you Jesus" "You are holy" but the best one for...

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

Theologians, pop-theologians, and bible interpreters have had a go of it and they get it wrong just as bad or worse than anybody. We have had enough study about God and understanding of scripture to last anyone a life time. The 'teachers of the law', theologians, pop-theologians, and bible...

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

I think I should clarify what I was saying in my previous post. I do believe that the move of the Spirit that I have seen in churches has been a genuine move of the Spirit. The tongues and interpretations and prophecies etc. that I have seen in church have indeed been the gifts of the...

Jesus you are. (prayed by my 3 yr old)

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

In the churches that I have attended where 'tongues' was practiced the gifts of the spirit have been treated mostly like a side show. They are not widely practiced in everyday life and they only show up randomly and rarely on occasion in a service. A person will have a prophetic word or a...

Many of Us Have Missed Something Big, and We Are Holding Ourselves Back

Awesome and very true. The very same faith and response that we had when we first believed is how we should continue to live. Churches instead teach people to get 'saved' by responding to the Holy Ghost and then the rest of the trip is up to you. That communication from God when he first...

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

Scripture tells us that no man can tame the tongue. Does this mean that the tongue cannot be tamed? Certainly not. Man might not be able to tame the tongue but the Spirit of God is quite capable of accomplishing this task. As I submit my life to God on a moment by moment basis, I also submit...

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

So often we sound like the religious people of Jesus' day. There was nothing in k2k's comments to indicate that he was trying to "pull the God card". He was in fact furthering the discussion by recalling something that the Lord himself had taught him. In the local fellowship of believers...

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

The more I read this the more my heart breaks. This is sadness. Such deep deep grieving. How dare any of us post anything on this forum that we have not taken to the Father first. We who call ourselves 'believers' or 'christian' or identify ourselves in any way with Jesus surely must be...

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

It is so important that we continually carry on running conversations with God about every area of our life. It is part of the 'pray without ceasing' thing and the 'in all your ways acknowledge him' thing. imo As far as the Acts 2 reference. I am not pushing any agenda or pre-conceived idea. I...

    Tongues as Initial Evidence

I wanted to point out that there was probably a miracle in the hearing more than in the speaking in Acts 2. 3 times it is repeated that each individual listening heard the group speaking in their own language. It specifically does not say that one person was speaking one language while another...
