  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Farewell

I write to say farewell and take care. I have enjoyed the conversations we have had, and I have learned much during my visiting and posting on this virtual Orthodox community. I hope you all continue to make this a place of testimony to the truth, and remain in loving, and encouraging, converse...

    Question About Orthodoxy

The Biblical Necessity of Tradition One of the important effects of Tradition is a unified standard of Bible interpretation, which was regarded by the Early Christians to have come from the Apostles (and for the Jews it came from the Prophets), due to a succession of actual disciples and...

    Violent Protest Outside the EP

Sin is the Enemy of the world, and the devil who sows hate and malice in the hearts of man. Muslims have always been a persecutor of Orthodox, in Egypt, Turkey, Serbia, and Bulgaria. Through their hatred, violence, and murder, many Orthodox have been martyred in the name of our Most Merciful...

    Our body, His temple?

I would say Both and the body is not evil but all of its desires are a hinderance with our communion with God.

    Our body, His temple?

St. Antony the Great ate and drank bread and water every 4 days in the Egyptian wilderness and lived to be 105 years old. "Man will not live by bread alone" the Holy Spirit nourishes our souls and bodies much more than any food. Like some one said we are in different states of spiritual fitness...

    Our body, His temple?

Dancing, wine and theaters, dont not bring us closer to God, and in most cases seperate us from him. I am not saying that these things should be completely banned from our "Spiritual diet", but they should be indulged in very sparingly.

    Our body, His temple?

The heart is the essence of the soul. In patristic usage, the heart is both spiritual and physical. The spiritual heart is: "deep" (ps.64:6), an "immeasurable abyss", the inner man(st. Gregory palamas) the "hidden person", the battle ground of the spiritual struggle (archmandrite sophrony, Saint...

    Our body, His temple?

More accurate is to say our heart is the temple of God. This is why we must strive to purify it and keep it undefiled.

St. Antony the great 'souls ascent into heaven'

    65. And many monks have related with the greatest agreement and unanimity that many other such like things were done by him. But still these do not seem as marvellous as certain other things appear to be. For once, when about to eat, having risen up to pray about the ninth hour, he perceived...
