  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Self-defence in Anabaptist theology?

Anabaptism, like so many other “sects,” have their liberal and moderate leaning advocates so choosing carefully is important. If you decide to carry a gun then there is really no reason to change, just stay where you are at. It appears to me that there are two distinctives that characterize true...

Most annoying/difficult to follow command in your opinion?

It is possible to love your enemies. Have you considered that verse in the N.T. that says very few will be able to enter through the strait gate (strait as in difficult). And, Jesus makes the disturbing comment about whether or not He will find real faith on the earth when He returns. Today...

    Am I My Brother's Keeper?

Am I My Brother's Keeper? Today, as never before, the whole world is preparing for war, and as never before, Christians are united behind the effort to kill their fellow man. The blood of endless wars cry out from the ground yet the only response from today's Christians is “Am I my brother’s...

    Doubts about denominations

This is a very serious issue because what is at issue is "truth" itself. I was a Protestant for very, very, many years and could not get satisfaction from any denomination concerning the words of Jesus in Matthew 5,6,and7 The Sermon on the Mount. Protestants and Catholics do not love their...

    Charismatic Gifts

I am an Anabaptist convert and I do not speak for all Anabaptists, but to answer your question I would say yes and no. Anabaptism, as I have discovered and appreciate, is very much down to earth yet very spiritual. Anabaptists have taken the word of truth and believed it. If the New Testament...

What is the best resource for learning to understand the bible?

Your dilemma is very common among the majority of Christians. Jesus did not make His requirements difficult, it is we who make it difficult. Most Christians want God to take them by force, even against their own will but that is very rare and you should not count on Him doing that. John 7:17...

Why do Catholic and Orthodox leaders

It may be normal for the Catholics and most Protestants it just isn't Biblical. It doesn't matter how old it is if it isn't Biblical it is Pagan.

Why do Catholic and Orthodox leaders

That's what I said, "Normal according to man." Christ never sanctioned costumes Catholic or Protestant, they are Pagan.

Why do Catholic and Orthodox leaders

I guess "normal" is according to whichever way the wind is blowing. Christ and His Apostles were and are the "normal" and that has not changed. Costumes are not sanctioned by Christ, they are sanctioned by men "to be seen of men." If Christ and His Apostles are the norm then anything else is...

Why do Catholic and Orthodox leaders

Normal according to what? To a liturgy? A liturgy is a rite or body of rites prescribed by a body of men for public worship. If it is perfectly “normal” it is a normal unknown to the New Testament unless you consider the Pharisees to be normal; Christ considered them to be abnormal. Whether it...

Why do Catholic and Orthodox leaders

To be seen of men. We are to be known by our life and deeds and not by a costume.

Why hasn't Jesus come back yet?

You are correct, Israel is not Christian and is far from truth and salvation. But, it can not be denied that the hand of God has fulfilled his promise to bring them back to their homeland and to bless them. Without a doubt, many will succumb to deception and turn away from God but nevertheless...

Why hasn't Jesus come back yet?

There is one prophecy that signaled the last of the last days and is the return of Israel to its homeland. In 1948 Israel became a nation again and Jesus eluded to that as the last generation, "That generation will not pass away until all be fulfilled." I was born in 1948 and I am 72 years old...

    Quakers

Thank you for sharing this. The whole Protestant Church is pretty much stuck on doctrine and tradition and my experience with the commercial Church is that it is apostate from top to bottom. What I have found is that there are few authentic Christians who really follow Jesus. Mostly it is for...

    Quakers

I notice that there are several here who were quick to point out the oddness or reasons that disqualify the Quakers as "orthodox" or even Christian. These people might want to take a little time and consider that the plethora of extreme denominations that all consider each other unorthodox in...
