  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Politics: Joel Osteen vs. the UMC

I'm personally not interested in engaging in a discussion of Osteen's theology here. I'm fully aware that this forum will be hostile toward him. I only wanted to share that I am sick of partisan politics being discussed in church and at least on this one issue Osteen's church did it right, and...

Politics: Joel Osteen vs. the UMC

This doesn't generally go over well in UMC circles, but I am a fan of Joel Osteen. This week, I listened to the Saturday night service, the Sunday morning service and am now listening to the Sunday evening service. There has not been ONE WORD about the previous week's election, and in two of...

    Halloween and Shamhain

Our church has a pumpkin painting party every year the Saturday before Halloween. We show some kid-friendly Halloween movies and paint pumpkins--painting is safer for the kids than carving.--on the night itself, I'll be watching college football, as I do every Saturday, and handing out candy to...

Suggestions for husband and wife hobbies

How about board/card games? There is a coffee shop down the street from us that has many many different board games to try out and buy if you want to. Of course they have the regular stuff, like chess and checkers and whatnot, but there are also a lot of different games that are newer and fun...

Do you wear your wedding ring/band?

I'm not happy with my marriage, so I quit wearing mine about a decade ago. My wife wears hers all the time.

    Discussion of Submission- Trial Thread

My advice to young husbands would be to skip reading vs. 22-24 of Ephesians 5 when reading your Bible. That part is addressed to wives. You're not a wife. Don't worry about that part. You need to focus on vs. 25 and following. That's more than enough for you to be able to handle. Don't accuse...

Fighting the urge to adopt 28 Bengal cats; what to do?

I wouldn't adopt them all at once. If you're really that hungry, buy some Mounds or Almond Joy bars. As far as anointing the frying pan, I'd go all out. Use lard. Don't live long. Live well. :)

    Rush Limbaugh

I haven't listened to any conservative talk radio in a couple of years, but when I did, I found Dennis Prager to be significantly more insightful and credible than Limbaugh, and since they were both on at the same time, Limbaugh became irrelevant to me.

Attn: One full year since Discrimination

While it is my personal opinion that Zimmerman is a racist and murdered Trayvon Martin, I also believe Zimmerman's acquittal was accurate because the burden of proof was not met. We can have our opinions, but they don't mean anything legally unless they can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt...

    Do you believe in horoscopes?

The Horoscope is in the Comics and Games section of my newspaper. Dilbert is also in the Comics and Games section of my newspaper. I read Dilbert and the Horoscope almost every day and have found that Dilbert is much more accurate.

    What brought you to CF?

I initially came here after being kicked out of a conservative church. I tried to be agnostic, but I couldn't reject my belief in God, so I was looking for a large place with a lot of different denominations so I could get a view on how others worshipped and saw God and the Bible, so I could...
