  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What led you to ask Jesus Christ into your life?

I understand that no one can come to Christ unless the Father draws them. What I am asking is more of the situation and how it appeared to you when you accepted Christ into your life. Had you lost all hope? Was it just that you wanted to keep from going to Hell? No other reason than it...

    Why would God Save Us?

Hi Van, I'd like to thank you for a very thoughtful, well written post. You covered the question of salvation accurately and scripturally. My reason for drawing you out was that in my opinion, we often tend to iconize certain words and concepts. We know the right catch phrase, but we don't...

    Divorce+replacement spouse=adultery?

Mr. Nobles, I have read several of your posts on this site. Let me see if I can summarize the holy doctrine of Sherman Nobles in his own words: You state that you don't care if you give a liberal (read: broad, sloppy, loose) interpretation of scripture. You claim no motive to suppress the...

    Why would God Save Us?

Hi Van, Over all, I believe you are on the right track, but I am concerned that you are oversimplifying things a bit, and am especially uneasy with your explanation of why God would choose some of us over others. The answer, 'that it is because we loved Him of our own free will' is an answer...

    Divorce+replacement spouse=adultery?

Mr seanHaden, We know that the only righteousness that can be had is by the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, who is Himself righteousness. We are nothing apart from Him. This same Jesus Christ defined adultery for us in Mat 19:9. Yet you presume to call those 'clueless' who would obediently...

    Divorce+replacement spouse=adultery?

Ms Angelmom, Your question is a good one. The word apostasion appears three times in the NT. These are Mat 5:31, Mat 19:7, and Mar 10:4. In each case the word is referring to the same thing and is used in the same manner. Properly, it is a legal term and would have been used specifically in a...

    Divorce+replacement spouse=adultery?

Mr. Nobles, I would like to understand your means of interpreting biblical principles with regard to divorce. Perhaps I am misunderstanding my Bible, but I do not see the 're' before marry in 1 Cor 7:27. Your understanding of this verse, and hence your advice, appears to be a very liberal...

    Why would God Save Us?

Hi Van, If it is ok, I'd like to take a shot at your Titus 2:14 question. You asked, "Why would God save us?" To which you point to the reference in Titus as an answer. What I always have to ask myself (and my Bible) when I read God's word is, "How do I get 'traction' on this?" We read in...

    Is the Old Testament important?

Ms EPII, No problem. Unity in the Body ... and all that. Have a very lovely day. It has been a pleasure. If you would like to discuss this further in email, you can contact me via scott@newHeartInChrist.net. I would be happy to discuss my views and genuinely consider yours. scr

    No women preachers?

Ms MJLGM, Romans 8:28 says that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose. Please understand that I am not telling God anything. Perish the thought. I am in the very humble position of trying my best to allow God to teach me all that...

    Is the Old Testament important?

I am afraid that you've got me on the one about taxing the whole world. I am not familiar with that reference. However, permit me to point you to a very scholarly website that actually does an extremely credible job of aligning the Exodus with all of the archaeological evidence that is to...

    No women preachers?

Ms LJGSM, I am not associating you with the 'badies'. We are all under attack, and we all stumble, and it is usually our own ego (I say this with much experience fighting my own ego - and failing more often than I wish to admit) that is our worst enemy. One thing that we need to get under...

    Is the Old Testament important?

Ms EPII, I understand your skepticism, but I believe that there are less issues with the accuracy of different recorded events than you claim. Indeed, no one has yet to prove anything to be untrue that is recorded in the Bible. This is something that I have spent a fair amount of time...

    No women preachers?

Ms LJSGM, Specifically, I would like to ask you that if you were Satan, and if you had multiple centuries with which to create mayhem among humanity, couldn't you actually just bump things a teeny bit every human lifetime and a half, or so? Just to keep things subtle? And if you were...
