  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why Facebook Is for Old Fogies.

FB is by far the site of choice for undergraduate university students in Australia also, an age group ranging predominantly from 18 to 23 inclusive. It is by far the most user friendly and so easier to organise events and share photos with.

Five Gadgets That Were Killed by the Cellphone.

Ooh! Ooh! *puts hand up* They still use them at the hospital I was studying at this year. Although as students we had to share ours between 4 of us.... *grumble grumble*

MANDATORY 'NET CENSORSHIP IN AUS. a la NORTH KOREA, IRAN.

Well not no-one. THe question is how do we stop it? I've seen a number of letters in the paper disagreeing with the "filter" but with other issues going on I don't think Rudd is afraid of a large backlash. Especially with the next election so far away he likely (correctly) thinks that most...

    The Man from George Street

Lol, or maybe just observant? :P Besides it wouldn't be the first (or last) time such a fictitous 'motivational' story was passed off as true, this is the internet. Who knows? Maybe this is a recycled story from elsewhere that was originally stated to be fictitious but this detail was ommited...

    The Man from George Street

That story is obviously fake, it sounds like an oral version of those preaching emails. It is also rather niave and silly, implying that so many could have never heard about the Christian message and by someone just walking up to them and telling them they'll go to hell without Jesus (or wont go...

What IS it with men and...? (2)

Its been 3 years since ANYONE posted on it until now :P, so in my opinion this thread was well and trully dead and you resurrected it with some serious thread necromancy. At least you added something (however little) to the discussion though, I can't stand people who resurrect threads with a...

The Ten Commandments: the most negative document ever written?

The argument would have more substance if the commandments were a list of "thou shalt" rather than "thou shalt not".

    Society’s Greatest Problem

In my opinion your tract will be completely ineffectual in converting or even holding the fleeting interest of non-christians such as myself. It seems that it would be more effective to be targeted lapsed christians who 'sin' but still 'believe'. The reason for this is that your tract...

    Society’s Greatest Problem

Why is this here? Wouldn't this be better off in Christain or General Apologetics? I am also confused about what you expect of this thread, do you want replies as to how affective this will be to use, general reactions, debate or do you just want people to read it and nothing more?

Fixed it for you. Though I wish this deep flaw in our democracy wasn't true. :sigh:

    Interesting Interview

Are you kidding? In the USA being a Christian is basically a prerequisit to go into politics. Though admitedly you could say they just have to claim you are Christian, however most probably are telling the truth. Scary isn't it, how could anyone vote for her or someone who thinks they make a...

Why is the Palin Witchcraft video even news in Australia?

Its news worthy because its about the US presidential elections and people can't seme to get enough of it. Its controversial because the person running for VP of the worlds most powerful country (heart beat from defeacto leader of the western world) believes in witchcraft and believes she needs...

    australian flag

 Okay........ Here I thought it was the people with the best military in the area, in Australias case the colonists with guns vs the Aborigines with spears. First of all in Australia the monarchy has no real power, we "serve them" in name only really. Secondly have you seen what makes...

The unknown 20 trillion dollar company...

For one I HATE websites that are almost pure text like that with no clear structure. If they are going to write something that long the least they could do is structure like a book with chapters and a table of contents.... Secondly the the article does not reference itself, just a few websites...

    australian flag

If i remember correctly the stars points each represent a state of Australia, if we had more/less states we'd have more/less points. NZ has the same constellation on it too, never knew we together were that unique though. While I am partial to the blue background I am not a fan of the Union...
