  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Super Creepy TV Ad Promotes Implantable RFID Microchips For Humans

Darklite has the win here. The Burden of Proof rests with the party making the claim. Sorry about that.

    Obama and Islam...

Well, neutrality would be ideal, wouldn't it? But in pragmatic terms, the electorate is made up of countless individuals who are far from neutral. If they're told that their deeply held beliefs are irrelevant to the political process - or rather, if a potential leader didn't attempt to connect...

Jack Chick more dangerous to Christanity than Dawkins ever will be

Chick is a lying, insane bigot. Luckily, most people can tell that he's a frothing at the mouth nutjob after reading a single tract. Dawkins, however, at least has some shreds of rationality amidst his own special brand of frothing and raving. Dawkins benefits from being intelligent, a...

    Face Book

Asking whether church is more popular than facebook is like asking whether cheese is more popular than television. One isn't an alternative to the other so any comparison makes little to no sense. Also, there's no evidence to suggest that it has any influence on suicide rates. People who are...

Is this where i can discuss bible stories because i'm going to

You haven't qualified this at all. What aspect of the story makes it incongruous? Is it a textual or theological criticism? I don't think it's against the forum if it's something you're genuinely trying to figure out for the sake of your faith, but there's not enough substance in your post to...

    Questions

Not all Christians believe that the Bible is 'the word of God' in the literal and infallible sense. I'm of the conviction that it's a human document, written by human beings. The attempt to find deep spiritual meaning and overarching coherence in literally every word is an idea that's hardly at...

A broken faith with no way out.

Haha, true. I'm a bit mixed up in all this, so specifics aren't my strong point. Let's see if I can express myself with a little more clarity I've spoken to some Christian friends, and a lot of responses are 'God loves you no matter what' 'Jesus died for you' and other little Christian...

A broken faith with no way out.

Where to start...? I posted here a bit about 4 years ago, when I was a Christian. A naive, sheltered, white and middle-class Christian. Needless to say, despite a fair grasp of my faith, it wasn't prepared for what a theology degree at Oxford would demand of me. For context: I'm currently 21...

Faith shattered by academic theology, but the church is what still keeps me away.

EDIT: Whoops! Seem to have double posted by accident! Could a mod clean this up please? Thanks :) Where to start...? I posted here a bit about 4 years ago, when I was a Christian. A naive, sheltered, white and middle-class Christian. Needless to say, despite a fair grasp of my faith, it...

Older teenager looking for... Well... Anyone to talk to really.

I hate trying to get an accurate summary across in my topic titles. Euch. The blasted things always confound me. Anyhoo, if anyone be interested, I'm looking for a penpal - I'm 17, nearly 18 and live over in England. I'm just looking for someone - of any age really - who can withstand the...
