  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Definition of Worship...

Given that the focus of this area of the site is on music, I would have said that the better term is music ministry. I have lead many services, introducing songs which are then accompanied by a pianist, organist or are just sung by the congregation without a musical instrument being used. But I...

Changing Worship Ministry to Music Ministry?

I'm with you 100% on this. As well as changing the name to music group (or similar), perhaps it would also be helpful to avoid expressions from the so-called worship-leader such as "Let's start to worship God", as that perpetuates the myth that only music lead by others is worship.

Just a simple observation. A common question that the Devil asks (resides?) is, "Did God really say ...?" It appears that this question often seems to be asked by liberal theologians and church leaders.

    Jerry Springer article

Interesting article. I may see one of the guys who runs that site, as we'll both be at the same football match this afternoon.

what makes a good worship leader

Someone who understands music and understands and loves their congregation. Someone who knows that some songs are written for soloists and only trained singers have half a chance of singing them. Someone who doesn't seek to impose their musical preferences on the congregation. Someone who is...

    Am I Crazy?

About 25 years ago, a Christian that I had a tremendous respect for summed this issue up for me in a very simple sentence. "Jesus is my Friend, but He's not my mate." I despair of the lack of reverence in some services that I've been in.

And can it be that I should gain an interest in the Saviour's blood? Wonderful, clear doctrine, testimony and eternal hope.

    Dead Worship

Could it be that your views of what worship is are not the same as other people in your church? My view is that a worship leader can never draw someone else into the presence of God. When I go to join with others to worship God, my basis for being in God's presence is trusting in His promises...

Is anyone else tired of the shallowness of contemporary Christian music?

I haven't read through every page of this thread, but I'm in line with the general thrust of the richness of much of our hymnody heritage (but not all) and the shallowness of some (but not all) of the modern Christian songs. I also don't like the repetition legalism that specifies the extent of...

    Worshipping in Different Churches

"but I doubt He would lead you to separate churches" is what I feel. I've spoken to the church leader on a number of occasions and he doesn't really listen. I'm hanging on in there at present, but am concerned that I'm going to spiritually self-destruct with pressures coming at me from so many...

    Worshipping in Different Churches

Over the past three to four years, the church where my wife and I worship has changed significantly. There is a much greater emphasis on certain spiritual gifts, what feels like movement towards eliminating any music that's more than a few years old and various other issues. I am desperately...
