  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    For Hindus: Hinduism and Jesus

Thanks for your replies guys.. Let me try and summarise my position and ask a couple of more questions: 1) I can see Christ in historical context, that is a Jew in Jewish society, and as one of many prophets/messengers/incarnations. 2) I can separate the teachings of Christ from his followers...

Do you ever wish you were more dogmatic?

Do you ever wish you were more dogmatic? No. Over the years I have found I like dogmatic people less and less...Their absolute confidence unsettles me and I find them usually closed-minded, or patronising or narrow-minded. I have found that I have become less and less dogmatic and found myself...

    Miracles?!?!

The more you read about these things the angrier it makes you. I went to a rally like Benny Hinns' in Birmingham U.K. about twelve years ago...and that was the effect it had on me...anger. People had been 'healed' during the week and now, on the evening that I went, people were being 'filled'...

St.Paul taught that the rightious pagen who discerns God in his heart and has the Law in that manner, may not call the name of Jesus (haveing never heard it) but shall be deemed rightiuos none the less. Sufi Mystic Ibn al arabi taught something similar...except of course it was the Prophet who...

Is Truth and orthodoxy important in Divinity?

A nice answer....But it begs two immediate questions in my mind... Are there places where God is not, where God is absent? Are non Christian religions a wrong turn?

    Truth, Divinity and orthodoxy

We often hear the phrase 'God is Truth'. What is truth in this context? Does God transcend the the polarity of Truth/Untruth? Is orthodoxy necessary in order to approach God? Who decides what is orthodox? How do we know?

    That Final Moment

after death, a person either goes to a place where there is conscious awareness, and separation of saved and unsaved persons, with unsaved persons already being in torment prior to judgement, (Luke 16 v 24,26) or we all enter into a state of no life and no awareness until our being made alive...
