  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Sugar in Coffee & substitutes

Most people report no problems with Splenda, but I had weird issues pop up after I started using it and disappear when I stopped. You could try Pure Grade B Maple Syrup(It's not cheap, however) or Rapadura, which is a less refined sugar.

National Health System for the U.S. or Not?

From what I understand, Canada's health system is not all peaches and creams. I believe we need to institute caps on malpractice rewards, so our doctors no longer have to pay outrageous malpractice insurance. More and more doctors are closing up shop because they can't afford the insurance...

    Gaining weight

How do you feel at your current weight? I don't particularly care for universal height/weight charts, since so many different variables for body composition exist. If you are happy and healthy(rarely get sick, have plenty of energy) at 110, I would suggest eating high quality whole foods and...

    What Would Jesus Eat?

Sounds like excellent advice. I try to follow similar guidelines, but it is tough. Free range beef in South Carolina is tough to get consistently unless you buy a whole, half, or quarter. I haven't been able to do that just yet. Thanks for the info. Paul

    What Would Jesus Eat?

Would you mind giving the general guidelines of the diet? It doesn't have to be detailed, I'm just curious. Thanks, Paul

    Soy unhealthy Milk good.

I re-read his post, and I don't think he was trying to bash anybody for drinking soy milk, he was passing on interesting information he had come across. Unfortunately, the information was based on a tv report so it cannot be linked, but that does not equal "no proof at all." I personally have...

    Soy unhealthy Milk good.

I get my milk from a farmer who raises his Jerseys on pasture and treats his cows as humanely as possible. Plus he sells it raw and unhomogenized. It's the best milk I've ever had. Tastes great in coffee, too. Thanks for the studies H2O. Paul

Anyone attend or graduate from Bob Jones University?

I went to BJU for 2.5 years from '93 to '95 and my wife graduated from BJU. I had both good and bad experiences, but overall it was good. The key is to find a good set of friends that you can trust. The biggest problem with BJU is the atmosphere they create by rewarding tattling or "turning...

Some dispute the claims that soy is good for you. Type in Soy Alert in google and you should find the articles on it.

    Confession time

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so I can stay away from chocolate and candies pretty easily. My weakness is fast food hamburgers. If I let myself, I could eat one every single day and it really doesn't matter from where. The other big one for me is Cracker Barrel's Chicken Fried...

    Vegetarianism

I was a vegan for almost 8 months which I learned from Hallelujah Acres which teaches 80% raw with lots of carrot and other vegetable juices. It was a health decision rather than a moral one, but I didn't care for it. I lost a little bit of weight, but mostly I just obsessed about food. I...
