  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Children's church curriculum recommendations

We are a small church in a ranching community. Pretty conservative Church of God Anderson congregation. Lots of kids for a church our size... lots of musicians, so we have a varied worship experience, depending on who is leading it that day... though, heavily country leaning because half the...

    Guilt?

I'm not sure OCD is the right name here... What you are describing sounds more like a general anxiety thing... You beating yourself up over the circumstance after the fact isn't really productive, but your anxiety drives you to worry, obsess, and soak in a general dread. If it wasn't the green...

Headship in Marriage and John 5

Out of interest in discussion I'd like to throw out an idea: Ephesians 5 describes Jesus as the head of the husband and the husband as the head of the wife... I know this is a bit of a beaten-to-death topic, but I want to offer a bit of a different perspective on its meaning. In John 5 Jesus...

    what can I do

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 Visit orphans, shut-ins, the elderly, widows, etc. Feed his sheep... (In fact, Jesus asked Peter if he loved...

Saving my marriage, understanding my wife's emotions, and impulses?

I guess I'd also recommend a few books... I like reading as a way of improving and growing. I use a book to learn how to fix the car, so why not read to improve my marriage. Check out: Love and Respect- Talks about building love in marriage relationships... Very practical. You and Me Forever-...

Saving my marriage, understanding my wife's emotions, and impulses?

A little over a decade ago I had a similar experience in my marriage. I had a spiritual awakening that brought me do deal with some significant sin in my life. I never committed adultery, but I am/was a recovering alcoholic. There was a lot of lying and betrayal that I came clean about. In...
