  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know this is audacious to say, but I think EVERYONE (or most) are wrong about Psalm 22:1

This is actually why I made this very thread. It was this explanation on Wikipedia that had me come up with my own alternate. I'm glad that, even if I'm wrong, that others don't believe in this one because it's absolutely ridiculous (at least to me).

I know this is audacious to say, but I think EVERYONE (or most) are wrong about Psalm 22:1

This is audacious to say -- even more so because I am such a recent convert. But for the last few hours I've been looking up the highly detailed, highly "descriptive" explanations for why Jesus said on the cross: "My God, my God, why hath you forsaken me? Why art thou far from helping me, and...

Do I have to celebrate Roshashona and Yum Kipur (might've spelled that wrong lol)

I believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, so I guess that makes me Christian? I actually don't know what the rules are that allow one to call themselves that. That's why I asked.

Do I have to celebrate Roshashona and Yum Kipur (might've spelled that wrong lol)

I'm reading through it and learning a lot from the different perspectives. I never could've imagined a simple question like mine in the OP could bring up such a discussion! But I'm glad it did!

Do I have to celebrate Roshashona and Yum Kipur (might've spelled that wrong lol)

How do I know if I'm a Christian yet? I believe Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, but I haven't been baptized or joined a church. I accepted him into my heart through reading the bible on my own, and through discussions with Christians online.

Do I have to celebrate Roshashona and Yum Kipur (might've spelled that wrong lol)

Just to clarify, I'm not 100% sure I "converted." I also don't know when I'm allowed to start calling myself a Christian. I believe so strongly that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, and I pray now to him every day and I worship him as my savior, but at the same time, I haven't joined a...

Do I have to celebrate Roshashona and Yum Kipur (might've spelled that wrong lol)

Haha! My bad! Mea Culpa. And a confession! I was a very, very, very, very, VERY bad Jew. One of the worst. I was a Jew but I was also a hardcore atheist who hated Christians. Now I am humbled by our savior and would serve him willingly.

Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for!

Do I have to celebrate Roshashona and Yum Kipur (might've spelled that wrong lol)

Thank you for this reply! I especially loved Matthew 6:22-23, because (and this is true of a stunning number of passages), a lot of times I feel like these were written specifically for me. Like the entire bible was written knowing I'd read it. So much of what I've been reading in scripture...

Thank you so much for all of your kind replies. Reading through them now. Completely forgot to check up on this thread. Doh!

Do I have to celebrate Roshashona and Yum Kipur (might've spelled that wrong lol)

I've only VERY recently accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. And, to be honest, I really don't want to celebrate these holidays, but I don't actually even know if I have to or not I kinda just want to follow the same standards that any Christian would. Does being born Jewish mean that I...

I don't think it's possible for me to not be a Jew. But Christ, I see, is our Lord and Savior

I've never said this in public, I've only thought it. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. IT feels good to say it. I've never had the courage to really type it out this way since all my friends are atheists and will make fun of me for it. But I want to tell people because it's true.

I don't think it's possible for me to not be a Jew. But Christ, I see, is our Lord and Savior

I'm just about ready to convert. I've been pushed to that edge. But the last question I have is if I have to stop calling myself a Jew. Truthfully, I don't want to. I don't necessarily want to be a "Jew for Jesus," in that, I don't intend to honor any Jewish religious customs, and to be quite...

There is no way I can ever make up for the harm I did to Christians

Appreciated. Very thankful for you taking the time to write this. Takes a lot to really cope with the fact that anything can be forgiven. I've heard that before now that I think back on it (on these forums no less). There really are no words to capture just how tremendous of a thing it is to...

There is no way I can ever make up for the harm I did to Christians

Thank you :) I really, really appreciate you and so many others taking the time to reply. I know that there are no shortage of Chrisitans who've felt the sting of the same "type" of people I have. I'm genuinely baffled as to how you don't hate them. You'd think it would be easy to not hate...
