  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    From Baptist to Lutheran

Joykins, God bless you. I will say this to you, though...If you are looking for a more liberal experience of the Faith, even withing the ELCA you will have to search out individual congregations. Even though the gobernatorial body of the denomination may be liberal and making policies that go...

    From Baptist to Lutheran

I say,"God bless you." I think that the Lutheran Church is an amazing and beautiful branch of Christianity. I almost joined the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod some time ago. I see no problem with Luther's teaching on the Eucharist and such. These things aren't clear in the Scriptures...

    OSAS Question

I have to agree with some of the above posters, either one could be saved, that is between God and that individual. None of us can see that person's condition and heart. I will say this...on point one, hardcore Christian means nothing. I think Steven Curtis Chapman summed it up pretty well in...

    Nicene Creed: Whotsat?

Arunma, You have to understand Orthodox ecclesiology to understand why Philip made his statement. Orthodoxy rejects the concept of the "visible" and "invisible" church. According to Orthodoxy, the church is the visible and organic Body of Christ on earth. If you are interested in a full...

    Nicene Creed: Whotsat?

I voted "Have Read It, Understood It, And Agreed With All Of It." The Nicean Creed is an excellent work of Christianity that expresses the most basic principles of the Christian Faith. I mean, think about it. Though we all may differ in praxis and some areas of theology, We can all affirm...

    What is the Restoration Movement?

I think that a lot of the reason we don't see Christian Churches here in the south is that most of them merged with the UCC in 1957. I can't be sure. Here in Texas, we do have a lot of Churches of Christ, and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), but I have yet to see any Christian Churches...

Why the Nicene Creed should be REJECTED as a litmus test for Christianity.

I will be the Third to concurr with Joykins... Christ was not made. Begotten, yes. Made, no. He has existed eternally. I think the Nicene Creed is a perfect basic litmus test for orthodox Christian beliefs. Now, whether you hold orthodox Christian beliefs and are saved...well, no Symbolum...

    What version

Hey, All... I use New Living Translation almos exclusively. When I'm feeling wild and crazy, I may bust out a MESSAGE, but usually the NLT is the Bible for me. Currently, I use the LIFE APPLICATION STUDY BIBLE. I love its notes and little Biblical profiles. I have no problems with any Bible...

    A question for the orthodox

If it makes you feel any better, even we Baptists have some bad experiences with Baptists. I know I have. You will not find me trying to convert anyone. I think Orthodoxy is wonderful and see no problems with her at all.

    VDers

Yes, I think that Voice in the Desert is appropriate as well. It reminds us of the Desert Fathers who gave up all they had for Christ. It also reminds us of the "spiritual" desert the Oriental Orthodox Church has managed to survive and thrive in. With a history of being severely persecuted...

    A question for the orthodox

LOL...Elizabeth, while I am a Baptist, I love the Orthodox Church very much and especially the Coptic Church.

    A question for the orthodox

According to the Orthodox (please correct me if I'm wrong) Christ's entire life was part of His redemptive work. As St. Athanasius said," God became man that man might become like God." If you are talking about Christ's sacrifice on the Cross, it was to cleanse the world of Sin. In other...

    Vegetarians?

Yes, and another verse used to condemn Vegans and Vegetarians is the one about "forbidding to marry and abstaining from certain foods." Some will say that Veganism is a sign of the End, but that verse is talking about the Gnostics and their asceticism that was false and unecessary, because they...

    St. Mary's Apparition in Zeitoun

I think the Her appearing is one of the most beautiful miracles of the Church. And that she appeared to so many, all the healings, etc. What an amazing testimony to the Coptic Orthodox Church.

    Abusive Fundamentalist Churches

I too was once part of an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church that was very abusive spiritually. This church made me doubt my salvation, because, as a knew believer, I wasn't absolutely perfect. I spent years doubting whether God had really saved me, because I would slip up. Even to this...
