    Hello/UU

Hello everyone. Any Unitarian Universalists here in the group? I'm looking for UU communities online. I've posted on the wider forum before but I've had a theological insight and wanted to reach out to the UUs. Thanks, Fred

    Progressive revelations?

why does God seem to give progressive revelations and covenants to humankind? He shows the rainbow and makes the noahide covenant with Noah but then later the mosaic convenant and the later the new convent and revelation of Jesus as messiah. I'm skipping several convenant/ revelations in there...

Why a kingly Messiah is not enough: the necessity of the Atonement

The life is in the blood This is a really great article about Jesus as the Passover sacrifice and also answers a doubt I had regarding the prohibition against drinking blood yet being commanded to take communion, the blood of Christ.

Why a kingly Messiah is not enough: the necessity of the Atonement

The question of who Jesus is is really tricky. My difficulty really comes when I look at the old testiment with the old convenant and prophecy, then at life and teachings of Jesus, then at teachings about Jesus in the church today. They don't neatly match up and it's something I really wrestle...

Why a kingly Messiah is not enough: the necessity of the Atonement

Going back to the original post. Thanks for posting this! I was about to ask a question just about this. During church in the eucharistic prayers I heard again how at the Last Supper Jesus offers a "new convenant" with his blood. That use of the world convenant is in all four gospel accounts...

    Galatians 3

Yes , you're absolutely right that I shouldn't worry about it. I'm going thru an identity crisis but the healthiest thing to do is let it go and not worry about what the Rabbis say. I could go in circles forever worry about who says what and I should only listen to God.

    Galatians 3

Actually I think you're right. I kept going round and round about it. But if I were a Jew right now what would I do, I'd pray and try to be a good person. The extra observances would pretty much be for show. What do I do now? Pray and try to be a good person :)

    Galatians 3

Thanks! That was really helpful. Sounds like you've been there. I think I need to stop calling myself a noahide of thinking of it in those terms. It's cool that the Rabbi's considered the other nations and made allowances for them, but it's a really hard and painful faith path to follow of...

    Mysticism

Maybe this will help. I don't have any secrets. I'll tell you all my religious practices (its not interesting it's praying at least twice/day, memorizing new prayers, deep breathing etc) and how I do them. I don't think they make me any more special or holy than you. It does help me listen for...

    Mysticism

Yeah Hellenistic mystery cults (like the gnostics) of modern secret societies like the freemasons or Rosicrucians or Golden dawn etc are mystics yes. But bad ones. What's the difference between religion and magic? Magic is getting God to do what you want (it's prohibited and doesn't work...

    Mysticism

Absolutely divination is prohibited and a bad idea. Scripture is very clear on that. And divination could be considered a type of mysticism. Not all mysticism is good. Just like not all prayer is good, praying to Molech is a bad idea :) Mysticism is a term used by different disciplines in...

    Mysticism

Always a good verse. Too bad no love button. Did you see my thread on Galatians 3? I could use your help specifically in figuring stuff out.

    Mysticism

You probably have good reasons for feeling that way. There are some people who confuse all sorts of things for God's presence and make idols in their minds and hearts. Perhaps put another way, in each of us there is a temptation to mistake God and replace Him with something we control and...
