  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    US Aid one year later

If there was room for discussion with the anti maga cult, points could be made that US foreign aid is being cut too drastically. This is impossible though because Trump has already murdered more people than the grim reaper somehow. Sometimes USAID seems to have been downright dangerous on a...

Eastern Catholic is an option of course. In the US, a few Eastern Catholic ( Byzantine) parishes are even old calendar like the Orthodox. There used to be an oldies AM station in our area of Pennsylvania that was owned by an Eastern Catholic family. They had the Divine Liturgy ( Ukrainian...

    US Aid one year later

Yet USAID seemed like a perpetual system that actually preserved ongoing cycles of war, famine, death etc. and kept a bureaucracy dedicated to this employed. From a March 2024 testimony by a former USAID official ( examples on pp 7 & 8 on Syria, Houti rebels, Haiti & others testify to this). I...

LGBT Church… anyone ever been to one?

It seems like the Evangelical pastor made valid observations in kindness as to how lost the community he visited was. There is no acknowledgment of sin and salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. There seems to be an absolute demand to be inclusive to the world and only the exclusive truth of the...

To Hell or Not To Hell

I believe Romans 2:1-29 is probably the most important chapter of the Bible to understand how God judges each of us. I believe it tells us that God will take into account our conscience, motives, hearts, works etc. based on the light given us. This all depends on what God did for us ( John...

Why is the Trinity never explained, described, or mentioned in all of Scripture?

It is a reference to the Son of God ( Who is God) making His authority of divine and human witness and claims in His absolute lordship. In Isaiah 9:5-6, His claim to the throne of David is also expressed in Isaiah 11:1-5 as from the rod of Jesse ( who was the father of king David). All of this...

Just a reminder. Christians started the war on Christmas

I believe Christmas is the fulfillment of Chanukah just like the Christian Passover of the Lord’s Resurrection ( “Easter”) is the fulfillment of the Jewish Passover. It’s just that Chanukah came much later, was fulfilled quicker, and had less standing tradition. The account of Passover is...

It’s a nice observance; the Antiochian Western Rite has it as a fully acceptable tradition within Western Advent. https://www.stgregoryoc.org/article/article-archive/the-history-of-advent/

Why do we do things not written in the Bible?

Nice try? Why is seeing the hope for the redemption of fallen creation in the Lord’s incarnation a nice try? Why regurgitate overthrown paganism to undercut the hope of redemption ( Romans 8:18-25)? The words of Paul show us if we properly know where creation stands with our Creator ( Colossians...

Christian Leaders Denounce President Trump’s Rob Reiner Comments as ‘Vile’ and ‘Shameful’

Plenty of misguided minds celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Trump, misguided as he may be, has not celebrated the deaths of the Reiners which was not a political assassination.

    Advent wreaths

In our parish, we usually have had one & there would be an inspirational reading from a female parishioner with a candle being lit after liturgy. This year it is not being done but our last priest just retired in August. It could just be a preference per the parish priest. It also might be a...
