  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    The Flood -

Hi people, and thank you for replying. Yes, what you have said is what I am leaning with, and have been. I was trying to get some fundies in here to see what they would say. I feel that a lot of Christians would feel that their religion would be violated if this story turned out to be symbolic...

    The Flood -

Is it at all possable that the Flood described in Gen. was just a "myth" used to portray an image about God, who will reward the righteous, but punish the wicked?

Evidence for Creation / against Evolution

One can accept the theory of evolution and still believe in creation. You are arguing against a group of Christians (not all Christians) who believe they are fighting for their religion, not against biologists.

The Month of Aviv – or Pagan Easter

Lol. I hate it when people do that. Wiccans and neopagans tend to feel the need to let everyone know that they own the "origionals". Of course, they're not following the origional religions anyway, but that's beside the point.

It doesn't. And what little it does say is open for interpretation.

Does it matter? Truth cannot change. If the Bible contains truth, than no matter how many times it is retranslated, the truth remains the same.

    Speculation dearest.

    Funniness

Sure dear, I'd love to. Just as soon as you point to me a Creationist book that makes any sense to the scientific community. There are many theistic evolutionists, not all biologists are atheists, or agnostics. One othat comes to mind is Asa Gray, and there are more. I just forget their names...

But the bible doesn't say that dinosaures lived with man during the times the books were written.

I have no problem with people challenging evolution. I just have issues with people doing it for no reason, other than they think that they're being martyrs by doing so.

Even if I agree with you about the Bible,

I agree, as long as they have an actual reason to ask questions. It seems many Creationists are so against it because they think their religion is being threatened, which of course, it's not. Certainly there are scientists who will not be openminded and see problems with their theories, but many...

    Funniness

But the Bible doesn't disprove man's theory of evolution! Who can say God is not a part of evolution? God is behind all science, no? Evolution is in fact, God's own design. And evolutionary theory has not failed "again and again". What are you talking about?

    Funniness

I don't think anyone cares whether you believe in evolution or not, no one is "requiring" you to believe anything. The pot calling the kettle black? Might I bring to your attention the Creationists who spread more propaganda about their so-called "scientific facts", when most of them have...
