  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would it be okay to have a small group that takes Communion together?

Yeah, I probably ought to have included the caveat that I was seeking answers for more evangelical denominations. A couple reasons I don’t switch: Primarily being that the only ones I can see myself theologically aligning with enough would be Anglicans, of which there are none within my state...

Would it be okay to have a small group that takes Communion together?

I’m glad to hear it’s something you enjoyed! I sincerely enjoy taking the Lord’s Supper and hope to find likeminded people interested in such a thing if I decide to move forward with it.

Would it be okay to have a small group that takes Communion together?

I am currently a member at a Southern Baptist Church, and while I love our church, I miss taking the Lord's Supper more often than 4 times a year. My previous denomination did so weekly. I also participate in an online Discord church, where Communion happens once a month, but honestly even this...

I am struggling to understand choice in salvation in Lutheranism

Recently I have been investigating Lutheranism as someone coming out of the RCC and currently attending a Southern Baptist Church. The differences between the RCC and SBC are vast. I believe the Gospel is a simple message of having faith in Christ’s work on the cross to be saved. However, one...

    Question for Liberal Christians?

First, let me start by saying I do not intend to cause debate or conflict with this post. If this is not the right place for it, please tell me and I will move it. I did want answers specifically from Catholics though, which is why I am posting here. Anyway, a bit of backstory. I used to be...

    Does your denomination preach Christ-crucified?

Well yeah. That is part of the gospel.

    Does your denomination preach Christ-crucified?

We suffer on earth still as a result of sin. The gospel is that Christ paid the price for our sins so we don't have to pay for them.

    Does your denomination preach Christ-crucified?

I don't disagree necessarily but my point in my op was that we do not need to suffer to pay for our sins. Christ did that on the cross. Which is the point of the phrase "Jesus suffered so we don't have to"

    Does your denomination preach Christ-crucified?

That is a great machine gun hermeneutic. What is your point with it?

    Does your denomination preach Christ-crucified?

I know, I was just kind of taking a jab. ;) I would say depending on the denomination that argument could be made. I have certainly seen varying degrees of emphasis placed depending on where I was.

    Does your denomination preach Christ-crucified?

Protestants emphasize the crucifixion, yes that is true. But we also emphasize the resurrection! I have also heard the phrase "Jesus suffered so we don't have to" but your misinterpreting what we mean by that. It isn't that we mean that we won't have our own crosses to bear, but rather we...

    NO MORE PREACHING ON HELL

My pastor still preaches sin and repentance every Sunday.

    Seriously?

God planted us into a perfect Universe, we screwed it up.

Why does God create people knowing that they will go to Hell?

I see where you're going with this, and I think that it leads me to this question: Why did God create a world in which he foreknew Adam and Eve would eat of the fruit and cause sin to enter the world?

Why does God create people knowing that they will go to Hell?

This has always been puzzling to me. Why does He? I would prefer the answers to be from a non-Calvinistic perspective but I will take any I can get and consider them. The reason I say this is because I tend to hold a Molinist view of these things (predestination/election) but have never found...
