We suffer on earth still as a result of sin. The gospel is that Christ paid the price for our sins so we don't have to pay for them.

I don't disagree necessarily but my point in my op was that we do not need to suffer to pay for our sins. Christ did that on the cross. Which is the point of the phrase "Jesus suffered so we don't have to"

I don't think there is a strong argument to be made for either position. I choose to believe that they do because God loves all His creations and specially made each one, and for Him to just let them die and cease to exist would be counter-intuitive to that.

The bottom line is that only you are claiming that it is a "Republicans only club" or that it only belongs to the politically conservative. The church is open to all and I have never met a single person who says otherwise.
