  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Christianity and Cannabis.

It's been a while, so maybe you won't be able to respond to this crumbs, but here goes. My post was in response to the comment that he was christian...and smoked marijuana. Being christian, and doing an action doesn't automatically make it doing God's will. Where I disagree with you is...

    Christianity and Cannabis.

Oddly enough, there are christians who have affairs, or steal, or lie, etc. Being a christian that smokes marijuana doesn't mean it is ok to do.

    Christianity and Cannabis.

The alcohol content would have killed parasites. I'm assuming that was recognized, that drinking water straight versus drinking water mixed with a little wine. Typically drinking alcoholic drinks would actually dehydrate you. So mixing a little wine into water would have made the water safer...

    Christianity and Cannabis.

Oh yes, many examples of storage containers that contain the resin of wines in Egypt thousands of years before Jesus walked the Earth. I know the idea of wine or harder alcohols seem to require machinery, and huge metal vates with temperature controls and so on. But that's just for mass...

    Christianity and Cannabis.

Don't forget that any wine back then would have been watered down. They wouldn't drink wine straight up, as that would have been considered barbaric.

    Christianity and Cannabis.

You should check into how wine was consumed back then. Typically, it would have been watered down, as drinking wine straight would have been considered barbaric. Yes, Jesus turned water into wine, but context is important. Jesus making watered down wine does not dismiss other scripture that...

    Christianity and Cannabis.

I think you misinterpreted me. I didn't say because you thought alcohol was legal it was ok, I said because there is worse stuff out there than pot that is legal, pot is now ok. I was pointing out you were comparing worse stuff with bad, to show if worse is ok, than anything not as bad must...

    Christianity and Cannabis.

I think comparing something with worse effects makes something ok is not a strong argument, and was pointing out a flaw with it.

So as long as there is something worse that is legal, it is ok?

Blessed are the Peacemakers: The Morality of War

A rather strange response. I brought up children starving to help make it understandable. Often people have used stories that are not real, and then apply the logic to the real world example. I made a point that was really clear cut. As it is, I'm not stating that Iraq should be the only country...

Blessed are the Peacemakers: The Morality of War

Do you think we should try and make sure that children in the USA should be fed food, and never allowed to go hungry? Now what if I were to say that we shouldn't try and make make sure the children of the USA are fed unless we're willing to feed all the children of the world? Really, it's a...

    Revisiting Same-Sex Marriage

What vote? You refer to the actions of a handful of politicians? Basically, a little over one hundred people voted yes to change the definition. Since the politicians are there to represent the people, and the people do not agree on this issue, why was it changed, when the majority did not want...

Blessed are the Peacemakers: The Morality of War

Haven't had a chance to read all the posts, but being christian does not mean that one must not support Bush. Onne can still try and prevent hardship and torture in Iraq, and still be Christian. Supporting Bush, and wanting the horror of Saddam stopped are different things. You do not have to...

    Cardinal backs limited condom use

YThat's a terrible comparison. You're saying that because a few priests are pedophiles, that the comparison is that that should be equated as the ok for premarital sex? The church also says that we are not to murder, and if a priest kills someone, does that mean we have the ok to start...
