  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is church a neccessary part of being a christian?

Here are just a couple thoughts and references to study ... Check out I Corinthians 12 (especially verses 12-31) ... "church" is supposed to be more than just a place of worship although that is a very large part of it. I heard just yesterday from our pulpit "The church is not here (on earth)...

    fertility treatment and religion

My wife and I had trouble with miscarriages. She has had a total of 5 miscarriages. She had 2 then the Lord blessed us with a son (a healthy and extremely energetic son) ... then she had 3 more miscarriages and He blessed us with a daughter last November. We did consult a doctor and they did...

Meaning of blameless and upright as relates to Job

I was hoping someone who has done some work with Job 1:8 and/or 2:3 could give me some or the meaning/literal interpretation of the description of Job. Being blameless and upright. Obviously, it does not/cannot mean sinless but what exactly does it mean? Just curious.

    Favorite Bible Verse

Prov 10:22 The blessings of the Lord make one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it. How blessed we are and how often we don't realize it. If only we would have eyes that would see His blessings we would rejoice and praise all day long.

Where does scripture say God wants us to be sick?

Not sure if this is already mentioned but those in Corinth were sickened and even died from purposely taking Communion wrongly.

    Stuck in the middle ...

Ok, here is the deal. Over the last few months things have happened and a friend of ours (my wife and I) was confronted about something wrong which he had done. This along with the consequences of sin begins to separate friends we had enjoyed worship and fellowship with for a few years now...

Christians entering non-christian places of worship?

When he was at Athens/Mars Hill, Paul even used the secular worship he had seen (idols/statues) as a type of a springboard into presenting the gospel. I am not saying to jump right up in the middle of a mosque and start giving the gospel, but what you see could very well help you out in...

So We are not a New Creation after all?

It is not the same as going from a mature physical person to a new mature spiritual person. When you truly believe and become "saved" then God gives you a new spirit. That spirit needs to grow ... hence in Hebrews 5:12 there is a difference between the milk of the Word and "solid food". The...

What do you do when you feel alone?

Yet I'm neither, but I have faith that if you trust God these crisis are only for good. This is an opportunity for growth. :holy: Right on grey :amen: ... Romans 8:28 and the story of Joseph both show us that God uses all things (good and bad) to help us grow and be who He wants us to be.

    How do you know?

Something that just popped into my head. A lot of times we ask God for something but in general terms. Many times, I believe, God wants to hear specifics though. He already knows the specifics of what we would like, but I can tell you it is really cool to pray specifically for something (ie-...

    After Straying

I heard it once put this way ... If you stick a nice clean white glove in a puddle of mud, the puddle does not get glovey, however, the glove does get muddy. The Bible puts it like this ... Amos 3:3 - Can two walk together unless they are agreed? ... you will never truly be able to have...

    pastor's disqualification ...

I don't think any of you will argue the fact that a pastor can do things which can disqualify him, but my question is this ... Where would some people get the idea that a pastor can permanently disqualify himself from any type of ministry? I am sure some things would take a rather large...

Church functions ... what is it to do??

The early NT church seemed to have it's head on quite a bit straighter than today's church (at least most of them). So my question is ... what was the NT church doing which made it so effective (I know those methods might not work today but the idea is the same). For instance, they had a...
