• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Open Challenge to Trinitarians.

Hi, I noticed one of your arguments in the other thread against Christ being fully God which I found quite interesting: Indeed I agree that the Father is God to Christ and that this has always been the case, Bible evidence is clear. I'd be interested however in your take on this...

    Is running/fleeing scriptural?

Look at what the angel said to Lot upon taking him from Sodom: "And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed." Genesis 19:17 When the...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

It takes a lot of time to write responses to your thoughts so I'd rather invest the time doing just that, rather than an anti-sabbath website's. Or, in response to this, I could just refer to you a pro-sabbath website for the rebuttal! Ok. So, does that mean the obligation to refrain from...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

Good. See my previous response: This analogy does not work because the sanctification of the seventh day is not an isolated statement in the book of Genesis. It comes naturally after the sixth day, and we have no reason from the immediate context to inject a time uncertainty on the...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

Bible Student, 1) The word for "man" as used in Mark 2:27 is the greek "anthropos", which Strong's defines as "a human being, whether male or female". The first, most common use is, "generically, to include all human individuals". 2) You now argue that because the word "all" is missing...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

Hello again, That's great, we should all be hearing and considering each others thoughts, searching the scriptures daily to see if these things are so. I'm still considering some of your points myself. I look forward to hearing your thoughts when you can. Take care, Jon

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

As to the time element, see above. As to physical Israel and spiritual Israel, yes, we are in total agreement. Indeed, not all Israel is Israel, for some are grafted in, and some are cut off. However, like I said in a previous post, the sanctification of God upon people is always...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

I've already noted the context of Mark 2:27, which is Christ rebuking the Pharisees hypocritcal misuse of the sabbath and its purpose. No matter how it is spun, or how we plead to the context, the statement is very plain that "the sabbath was made for man". Unfortunately, you agree that...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

Not part of the creation of the heavens and earth, agreed. Question: Do you agree that the Sabbath was "made", as per Mark 2:27? Question: Do you also agree that the Sabbath was sanctified on the seventh day of the first week? Great. So, there would be no such thing as a 'sabbath' day...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

Hi again Bible Student, some good questions! I agree with you. The Sabbath was not part of the creation of the heaven and the earth, because these were complete in six literal days. The Scripture says that the seventh day was blessed, and sanctified, because in it, God rested. But, I'd...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

In a sense, yes! Let's look at it again: "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified...

Must Christians keep the Sabbath day?

Hi Bible Student, I believe that, based on the Bible, Christians are still required to observe and keep the seventh day of the week holy. This involves resting from all unnecessary labor, and also refraining from our own pleasure. This does not mean we are restricted or limited in our...

    1844

I'm not sure the 50 passages of Scripture were necessarily linked together. More likely, those 50 passages were directly appropriate to the young Ellen White and her contemporaries at that time, for the Advent church was soon to form. SOP comments: "You think, that those who worship...

    What the OT reveals...

Did the Man, Christ Jesus, keep the commandments of God? "For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous." Romans 5:19 Jon

    1844

Sorry for taking so long to reply! Is perfection of character symbolised by the name of the Father written in the forehead? Notice, each of the seven messages conclude with: "To him that overcometh...." - this does not mean that it applies only to that specific church. It is a general...
