    What is it with God coming through when it seems like all is lost?

    Because He wants to show you that He loves you. He just wants you to trust Him. He doesn't carry a big stick anymore because the veil in the Temple over 2000 years ago was torn in two from the top to the bottom. Doesn't get any better than that.
