  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How young was your child when you allowed them to watch TV?

We have the tv on all day long~ but it's mostly background noise. Every once in awhile someone will actually sit down and watch an entire show, but nobody sits and watches tv for hours. Also, when whoever is "watching" tv, they're also doing something else too, so it's not mindless staring at...

    Introduce Toddlers to Christ?

Just start with "Jesus loves you SO much!" Then you can sing the "Jesus Loves Me" song to your kids when you change diapers.... Talk about how God made the world and all the animals, etc. throughout the day. It doesn't have to be a formal thing~ just make it an every day part of your life. As...

    Another homeschooling question

We used CLASS for our first year of homeschooling. We decided we needed the acountability of someone telling us what to do, when to have stuff done by, when to have stuff turned in by, and someone to keep the grades for us. After our first year, we decided that it was too much~ so we've "done...

are there any deductions for homeschooling?

Not that I know of... We still have to pay the property tax portion that goes to the local school district too.

    I need Counsel Fast

You said it yourself~ your only recourse is to evict him from your home. IMO, talk to him first and tell him if things don't change in (however many) weeks, then he's out. No more talking, no more lecturing, no more discussion. He has ___ weeks to get it together or you have no choice but to...

    home school question

Ok, I just looked up Arizona's homeschool regulations (on HSLDA's website) and there is Nothing on there about a mandatory number of hours per day. Who told you that? I would Highly suggest that you contact a local homeschool organization and talk to someone that's actually homeschooling in...

    home school question

My oldest kids are home (20, 18, 16) and watch the youngest ones while I'm out doing errands or whatever. I couldn't have done that when my oldest ones were younger, but it's a nice perk now that they're older. ;) In your situation, if you need to work then you could have a grandparent or...

    home school question

Homeschooling is Flexible, thus, you can school evenings and weekends if you have to be away from your DD during the day. It's not standing up in front of a dry-erase/chaulk board and teaching several hours per day like they'd get in public/private school. My kids spend an average of 3 hrs per...

    Not able to breastfeed.

I'm one of those breastfeeding moms who got PPD anyway. It was worse with my first two (formula fed them both), but I still had one level or another with each of the next 8. I shudder to think how Bad it would have been if I had Not been nursing though... especially with #6. :::shudder::: It's...

    home school question

The only way to know if homeschooling will work for you & your DD is to try it. The cost involved is whatever you want to spend for curriculum~ and there are So many different curriculums out there that you literally can set how much you can spend and not go over that. I would suggest that you...

Breastfeeding and co sleeping from a providers perspective

No, extended breastfeeding isn't as important to the Mom as it is to _some_ toddlers. Some toddlers Need to nurse, for a Variety of reasons. I am not saying, or even suggesting, that a breast is a substitute for a parent. I AM saying that your friend and his wife need to consider the needs of...

Breastfeeding and co sleeping from a providers perspective

I think this is where most of your attitude is coming from now... Your "friend" that lives with you and his situation. I doubt Seriously that this man's wife is manipulating their son through breastfeeding. That's ludicruous, IMO. It IS important for a toddler to continue to nurse for Many Many...

Breastfeeding and co sleeping from a providers perspective

Stopping breastfeeding just because it "might" have something to do with fitting in at daycare is selfish of the daycare provider. Breastfeeding should stop when the baby/toddler is ready, not when the daycare provider thinks it's best. sheesh

    Co-sleeping

I didn't co-sleep with my first 2 at all, I co-slept with my next 3 for 6 months only, and I co-slept with my next 4 for a year or so. I would LOVE to go back in time and co-sleep with my oldest 2 (I would have breastfed them too). We wouldn't have had Nearly the nighttime issues with them...

    Egg donation and surrogacy

I don't have a problem with surrogacy, as long as the woman who is carrying the baby and the parents are very very clear with all the details. I think it's a wonderful gift to be able to give someone else a child. I seriously considered doing this for my cousin, who had one miscarriage after...
