  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Does God Hate People?

??? Perfect love hates? I'm going with "absence of love." This reminds me of the "fear" interpretation we are to have for God. Or even, when God suddenly "remembers". If God hates -- Jesus supposedly doesn't and teaches us not to. How does one reconcile these two? This is in part what...

    Is Modern Christianity Misinterpreting Jesus?

It is old! It sounds like Gnosticism. Nothing is new under the sun (Ecc. 1:9). .

Questions and Unfortunate Truths on the Human Abuses of God

That's why it's been said that Satan (or the satan in this instance) is a Christian defense mechanism. We can't bring ourselves to resolve the tension between God's Sovereignty vs. the presence of evil and suffering in the world (esp. for those who are faithful to God). ITA! I think without...

    "Out there"

Let me preface my comments by saying I plead ignorance to the whole Allah-Islam-Christian divide. It's just not a topic I've looked into in depth, thought about a whole, whole lot or even prayed about very much. Having said that I have some thoughts based on what I do know. I believe...

All this “death” … and no one is dead!

You've got a point! I love this "Father-Son" team: Yahweh & Son! :amen: .

    The name of God

This to me speaks to a more foundational issue of how many Christians really don't know God. I mean, I don't know God completely either, but not to be familiar with the name Jehovah tells me people really don't know on a basic level who the God is they are praying to. There's a crisis in our...

In the Old Testament times, were some people better off dead than alive?

Well, the athiests have a never-ending supply of attacks upon God, Christ, religions in general, etc. but there is always a counter argument in response. It's not as if these things over 2,000 years haven't been thought out or discussed before by brilliant minds. It all comes down to faith and...

Just a Fun question Purse and Airbag

Staged. For me the woman's reaction seems somewhat off. As for the second vid, staged. You've got a rather unique shall we say sense of humor, LLOJ. Maybe Pythonesque, I don't know. ;)

Christians deserve to lose all their money they have invested.

Once when I had a discussion with my mother about God, she said something to the effect, "Well, it's a sin because God says so." I thought about that and considered that yeah, ultimately it's a sin because God says so . . . But when I thought about it longer, and thought about what God...

    Is Your Message Relevant?

I think in a way they are. Either perhaps unconsciously (or more likely, consciously) evangelicals are affected by their culture and adapt. So too does their message (in varying degrees) adapt. But, I also believe this is nothing new. On the national scene, I'll tell you what I don't...

    Attending church

I attend church regularly, but there are times when I don't. I don't plan on not going to church regularly far in advance is what I mean. I'm also a member of this church.

    Gold Dust and Angel's Feathers?

You know, just yesterday I actually saw a documentary about the gold teeth and gold dust! And supposedly authentic manna was materializing as well. I can't remember exactly but this might be the same people. I'm skeptical of the whole thing. So gold? Gold dust. Did they have it analyzed...

    Seeing God

I have trouble understanding how being either a non-evolutionist or an evolutionist on its own would preclude a belief in (or seeing) God, but I guess that's just me. Non-believers have eyes but can't see. Two people can be looking at the same thing and miss the forest for the trees so to...

    Question about haters.

It depends. Where does opposition end and flat-out intolerance (in other words, hatred) begin? Context is important. "Hate the sin but love the sinner" has been applied to homosexuals for instance. And yet, to ignore the treatment of people who are homosexual (regardless of whether you think...

    Question about Zechariah and Mary

Mary also said (albeit later): "I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her." (Luke 1:38) This tells us what was in her heart and what was missing in Zechariah. Zechariah doubts while Mary seems like she just wants to know the logistics...
