  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you're looking into the Vineyard movement, but haven't taken a step, read something like http://christchurch-virginiawater.co.uk/articles/roots.html .

    Prophetic Ministry and Childish Things

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 says Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. I notice that a lot of modern "prophesy" has features in common with Old Testament false prophets i.e. false hope, peace for nonbelievers, etc. This could be argued as being...

Mormons aren't allowed to have caffeine. That means they miss out on the sweet, sweet aroma of Hazelnut, Mocca Chai Latte, and Iced Moccacino...

    Demons

Ok, this is going to sound really bizarre at first, but hear me out: I think that Disney is a demonic stronghold. Walt Disney, for starters, should have been a funny, playful man, right? You can find some fairly odd biographical descriptions of him, including one that describes him as "a...

    Why skirt the issue?

You know I was exaggerating... =) Example of what I'm talking about though: New Christian approaches Prophet on a certain prophetic ministries forum, says he's concerned about his unsaved dad, wants Prophet to help. New Christian asks Prophet to pray to God to ask to be shown a specific...

    Coffe lover's club

No Mormons allowed. I know this is Christians Only but they consider themselves Christians. I dated an ex-Mormon who defended their beliefs before I became a Christian, in fact that's probably a big element of my becoming a Christian, I wanted to refute Mormonism and that ended up taking me to...

    Why skirt the issue?

Sorry. I think a lot of the attraction of the whole prophetic/healing thing is that it has a particular leaning towards all things mystical/New Agey. Sort of like how Kaballah is attractive. The pastor at the Baptist Church that I usually go to just did a sermon on how to get your prayers...

Let me fix: Better. Chip Ingram had a really good piece about spiritual warfare; he's a very rational, logical and smart guy who's word on the topic I'd take over most others. His piece basically said that while demonic possession is one thing, demonic oppression is a problem that is faced...

Why did God give the law

Anyone reference Psalm 119 yet? Lots of love for the law! My big quibble of late is when the more "relevant" Christians try to slap you with the charge of "legalism." One time I was in a group of Christians with one non-Christian and the conversation was turning gossippy; afterwards I was...

    Why skirt the issue?

Since the beginning of time, there has been a distinct line between powers of the occult and God. Recently, advances in prophetic technology have allowed us to do things that are almost as cool as new agey occult-like practices, but still technically in the clear with God. We can ask for...

California Textbook Controversy -- It's not the creationists this time!

I'd like to jump in with some nonsequitars-- I recently took a summer class called History of Science and Tech. For some reason, the textbook read like a narrative in which mankind was the protagonist, God was the antagonist, and Darwin saved the world. It seriously had all the elements of a...

    Prophetic Ministry and Childish Things

(I figure I'd get the most sympathy for this in the Dispensationalism forum, though it has about as much to do with dispensationalism as dispensationalism has to do with prophetic ministries.) Anyone know that guy? You know, the one who will go on about spiritual wounds and spiritual deserts...

    Christian Depression

I like the way you put that! What I am trying to say is that clinical depression is just a list of symptoms, put together by psychologists, to describe a behavior. Its not a virus, or a bacteria, or a cancer. Psychologists can't include God or sin or anything else that is "supernatural" in...
