  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Marriage retreats.

My husband and I went to a Weekend to Remember back in February. It was awesome. The couples that lead it were very transparent about their marriages and how different strains affected their marriages and how they worked them out. One couple was on the brink of divorce due to an affair and...

How would your congregation react to Pastor's teaching Song of Soloman?

I didn't read all the posts and only skimmed most of the thread but in regard to the op, I think it SHOULD be talked about. I think my church would be ok with it. I also think it's ok to use the pulpit. Having said that, however, I think it's something that should be thrown out to the...

Vasectomy - should you tell the would-be grandparents?

I'm with Mayzoo, if they don't get it when I ignore the question or answer vaguely, then I'd start asking about their sex life. As much as your parents may WANT grandchildren, it's not their decision to make. If you want to tell them about the vasectomy, tell them. My brother told me about...

Surprise visits when my daughter is away ...

I don't have kids but I was a child of divorce. I know that I would never have felt comfortable in my mom's home (where I was raised) if I wasn't allowed to be there anytime I wanted or if I wasn't free to come in and get my things when my parents weren't home. I could see if you were upset...

Do you believe in having health insurance?

I think it's wise to have health AND life insurance if you can afford it. My hubby has life insurance and we're trying to get a policy on me. The kicker is that I'll actually have MORE on me than he has on him.

    Differences in vocab with spouse

My native NYC hubby calls the shopping cart a "wagon", I simply call it a "cart". I'm from PA Dutch Country (ie Lancaster County, PA) Though I'm certain it has little to do with his being from NYC, he also says "libary" "FebUary" and many others that just bug me. I actually had to look up...

Need advice on finding the right adoptive parents

This is an old thread from over a year ago. Any adoption that would have taken place, has already done so. However, I believe the judgment is a bit harsh. Unless one has ever been in the position the OP is talking about, they have no right whatsoever to judge. To tell someone their child...

    Hyphenated names

I legally kept my maiden name and added my married name on the end, effectively giving me two middle names. It's on my SS card, passport and on any and all records. My driver's license doesn't have it because it doesn't fit (23 letters, 3 spaces), BUT the application does. I didn't want to...
