I think everyone does that to a certain extent. Opinions are based on other peoples opinions. Accumulation of knowledge is based on trust.

I would say that millennialism is restricted to the new-fangled churches.. it's not part of historic Christianity.. Catholic or Protestant.. or anything else. Rev was about "things that must take place soon" which is why good scholarship says it must at least attempt to see it as being about...
