  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How did you become convinced that APOKATASTASIS or the reconciliation of all things is true.

I wrote a research paper on Epektasis and Apokatastasis as part of a study on Gregory of Nyssa after returning to college as a second career student studying religion and philosophy. I had not given much thought to the ideas of perpetual ascent of the soul and universal salvation until I began...

    Perpetual Inquirer

I experienced something never before felt by me at Divine Liturgy this morning. As Father brought the body and blood of Christ out for the faithful to partake, I was moved to tears. Not of sadness but of a longing, for something that I can't receive just yet. It was extremely powerful and...

    Finally!

I've visited two Orthodox parishes, one OCA and one ACROD, and both had people who were extremely welcoming and helpful for a noob to Orthodoxy and the Divine Liturgy. Ive just started Inquirer's Class at my semi-local OCA parish (St John of the Ladder) and have met some truly wonderful people...

Holy Celtic Saints of Ancient Times

I very much enjoyed reading your story. Now I'm going to have to go check out the Book of Kells just to assuage my curiosity as to what it is. Thanks for sharing!

Hello all! I've been on the forum for quite some time, around 5 years or so, brought specifically here to TAW by a dear friend, Uncle Clem who many of you know or remember and who no longer participates on the forum as far as I know. I've checked in and out over the preceding years as I've...

Differences: traditional worship and Wesleyan worship

Lifelong United Methodist and attended a Wesleyan university (Southern Wesleyan Univ. Central, SC) and I have never seen this term used in either the UMC or Wesleyan Churches that I am familiar with.

John Wesley originally kept the Sabbath and dietary laws??!

I have no knowledge of your source, however Wesley did practice a fast on Wednesday and Friday until his older years when he practiced on Friday alone and recommended it to worshipers but left it up to the individual to decide. I cannot post links due to not having 50 or more posts but if you...

    Case of the Rotating Bishops...

I am a member of the SC Annual Conference and while we have not experienced what you all are going through, we have had a Bishop pass during his tenure and were served by one interim Bishop. Recently (our previous Bishop) went back to her home Annual Conference before her time was up but that...

    Why Wesleyans aren't fundamentalists

Thank you, Maid Marie, for sharing that article. Adam Hamilton is definitely a great author and we have used several of his books as a basis for Sunday School studies and are currently going through "Making Sense of the Bible". Another great resource of his is "The Way", which we used during Lent.

    Any Youth Leaders Around?

Hi all , my wife and I took over the youth program at our church, along with another couple and I was just wondering if there were any other youth leaders/workers/whatever title you want hanging around? I haven't been on CF in a while as I tend to drop in and out for a while but I hope to...
