  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Should women be allowed to preach?

What made them prophetesses? Did they not teach God's word?

Why do people make fun of Us because our beliefs are different?

I agree. The impression that most Americans (and others world-wide) have about Christians seems to be very negative, overall. I fear that we as Christians have been very bigoted in our evangelism. We have tried to bully people into seeing it our way, instead of recognizing and accepting the fact...

    Marriage in 2005

I agree. And it's sad, considering that love, forgiveness, grace, mercy, etc. is supposed to be what Christianity is all about.

    Was Pompeii Destroyed Like Sodom?

Forgive me, Blackmarch. I'm not understanding your point. Could you elaborate?

Should women be allowed to preach?

What about the prophetesses mentioned in the Bible: Miriam, Deborah, Anna, etc.? As well as Queen Esther? These women held positions of physical and/or spiritual authority. Do you think they were going against God's Word, or fulfilling a calling?

Whew! A lengthy post... but you make some good points.

    Are we judging???

Oh my. Big misunderstanding. I wasn't suggesting that JESUS made mistakes. I was responding to the notion that showing love, compassion or mercy is a mistake when dealing with someone deemed to be "in sin." And my point is that if it IS a mistake to show compassion, then I would rather make that...

    Are we judging???

I, as everyone, am going to make mistakes. It's human nature. But if I'm going to make a mistake about about something, I would rather do so on the side of emulating the characteristics of Jesus. Where is my aim? To be more like Him. I didn't call Herny "the least of these." It was a...

    Are we judging???

Herny, As a Christian, let me say to you how sorry I am for your experience. For you are not alone. Many, MANY have taken their personal beliefs and launched their own crusade, convinced that the way to "win souls to Christ" is to beat them over the head with scriptures and uncompassionate...

    Was Pompeii Destroyed Like Sodom?

Again, "sexual sin" was not the only reason for Sodom's destruction, nor was it even listed first — "arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy" are all listed before sexual sin. We need to remember this when we start pointing the finger of blame in any particular...

Male and Female in the Bibilical Perspective

The verse you quoted was pre-Christ. Remember Paul's statement about their being neither "male nor female... you are all ONE in Christ Jesus." My opinion is that this removed that sense of "ownership" that men used to have over women.

Should women be allowed to preach?

Yes, if they have a calling for it.

    Marriage in 2005

It seems to me that the husband and wife should have done some communicating BEFORE they agreed to marry. I am amazed at how many couples divorce over things like work, children, religious beliefs, moral beliefs, etc. — HOW did they get to the point of marriage before talking through important...
