  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Tithing and income

You obviously don't understand which tithe went to the storehouse. NOT the tithe from the Israelite farmers. That tithe went to the Levites who lived in the Levitical cities. The Levites were commanded to take a tenth of that tithe to the priests. Proof: Nehemiah 10:37-38 (KJV) 37And that...

Where is that in the scriptures?

Right, in theory, the church should be feeding the hungry. Freely given tithe?? No such thing in the New Covenant. You can give 10%, but that isn't what the Bible calls a tithe.

Better still, give the 10% to the hungry.

    Tithing and income

When reading the Bible (KJV), gay means magnificent or sumptuous. You have to use the definition of the word when the KJV was written. Please be specific and give the name of the dictionary and the definition of tithe that they give. I have checked several dictionaries going back to...

    Tithing and income

You are absolutely correct. That is why I am so adamant about tithing ended at the cross. Every single church I have attended teaches you are robbing God if you don't bring a tenth of your income to the church. These pastors are either ignorant of what the scriptures teach, or are just plain...

    Tithing and income

You are right to a point. We should all pray and seek His guidance in our giving. Be led by the Spirit, NOT by what others say. But you will really be in trouble if you think the Spirit leads you to "tithe" because the scriptures define tithe to be a tenth of crops and animsls. But if the...

    Tithing and income

You conveniently start with Malachi 3:8 instead of verse 7. Verse 7 is the most important verse that explains verses 8-11. They were not following His ORDINANCES. If you don't know where those ORDINANCES are in the scriptures, then you have no idea HOW they were robbing God. It doesn't say...

    Tithing and income

You obviously haven't read the Book of Malachi. Malachi 3:7 (KJV) “Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ORDINANCES, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?” Colossians 2:14...

    Tithing and income

Not in any church I have attended. While it is true that the word "tithe" has changed meaning over the years, according to every dictionary I have checked, it still means a tenth or ten percent. If some are using the word incorrectly, that doesn't mean the definition has changed. It means...

    Tithing and income

It would appear from the above that you don't know what "tithe" means. I think you are confusing giving with tithing. Tithe means a tenth. If you give 50%, you are not tithing. If you give 9% you are not tithing. If you give anything other than EXACTLY a tenth, you are not tithing. Those...

    Tithing

Nothing but brainwashing. While God doesn't need your money, your pastor sure wants your money, doesn't he!! When you "tithe," who gets the money? Does it go to God? Nothing but a trick to make you think you are giving to God while all the time you are really giving to a corporation doing...

    Tithing

Tithing (per the scriptures) is impossible today. Giving is important.

    Tithing and income

Sorry, but the person we are referring to obviously thought they were using God's definition since they also said, "In the bible it says something along the lines of by trusting in Him and tithing, you will get more back in blessings then you put in. Like I said, I forgot the exact wording."...
