  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    A Small Personal Testimony

8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we...

How does the Orthodox church view Protestants?

I have had the chance to visit a Greek Orthodox Church in my area a few times. They are pretty much unwilling to judge me but are completely welcoming and friendly. I would encourage you to visit a local Orthodox church esp the Divine Liturgy if you can and not seek to find out how they look...

    Divine Liturgy

I hope to take my children, teen to age four there next week. There were a lot of families with young children. The liturgy seemed to be going along perfectly normal until a young child yelled out "here they come!" when the Eucharist was brought out by the priest.

I went to my first divine liturgy today. It was beautiful. And the priest and people were nice.

    Apostles

If having apostolic succession is supposed to protect the teachings as originally handed down, why doesn't everyone here agree?

    Apostolic Succession why?

That would make sense, except for the fact that they split into two Churches who teach opposite things that can't both be true, so what was preserved?

    Apostolic Succession why?

Catholic and Orthodox each claim a common history through the apostles. Why is apostolic succession useful or necessary if the apostles allowed the Church to be split in two and teach completely different theology today? Catholic and Orthodox worship alike but the theology could not be more...

    Why Is That? (Works/Faith)

It is probably because of the grave sin / venial sin distinction. i.e. don't go to Mass on Sunday (something most protestants would consider a work) and you may have comitted a grave sin (CC 2181), miss confession and damnation is the result. (CC 1035) It's probably not so much that works...

    According to Orthodox Christianity...

Does "Christ trained and approved!" mean Apostolic succession? This is a little confusing to me since both the Catholic and Orthodox claim apostolic succession and the two Churches doctrine could not be more different on some of the fundamentals. Also, what is the Orthodox message of salvation?

What should happen to these people

Nothing unproven was needed in this case, just antibiotics. It is well proven in this case.

What should happen to these people

Manslaughter doesn't require intent. If there was intent it would be murder.
