  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hi! new here - and i need some help

I surely will! Thanks for your help, though - food for thought, certainly. Yes, people have told me this before, although it was mainly to point out to me that I needn't bother with the Torah. But I see your point, I do. Well, yes, although loving your neighbor is one of the 613 and...

hi! new here - and i need some help

1 John 3:4 :) That is it. Also, I think I owe everyone another apology for my T-day sorry-for-myself post. I jsut glanced back over it, and well, yes. I also owe an extra apology to Rabbi Cohen - if he reads this - because I realized that I hardly responded to his post at all. You see, I really...

hi! new here - and i need some help

Hah! And thank you very much, anyway; I'm sure I can glean some sort of factual information from it ;) BenTsion: Very true, but I thought the reason was holiness? An extreme example! :) But I do see what you mean. However, and I think I am blowing this way out of proportion btw, isn't...

hi! new here - and i need some help

Hmm...yes, I've heard that often (there was a time when I wanted to be a vegetarian just because I loved animals). I see that the truth in it...but at the grocery store, should I walk up to the clerk and say: "Yes, hello, do you happen to know whether the animal that provided this meat was dead...

hi! new here - and i need some help

Oh! That makes sense... Oh! So really, blasphemy of the spirit is the actual ticket to Gehenna! Oh and I went to that link...it was very interesting, to say the least. Not just about the Noahide laws really, but what was said about meat sold in grocery stores as well - I'm seriously...

hi! new here - and i need some help

Ah...yeah, because I mean, Satan was an angel and he rebelled knowing what he was doing (which was kind of stupid really). But are we talking about outright disobedience or just non-doing? I know! Although, you know, I didn't realize it either! I will have to bring up the non-eternality...

hi! new here - and i need some help

DaTsar: Sort of like...the two dogs? But, every time we ignore the Holy Spirit, does this mean we have committed an unforgivable sin? It's just, this has always been a point of curiosity for me, since for something to be unforgivable it must be pretty serious! But is what you are saying more...

    Q for those raised Jewish...

I would just like to say two things: 1. Thank you both for posting, because I couldn't have said it near so well. 2. What they said! :P

    Q for those raised Jewish...

Well, I really don't feel qualified to answer your question at all (seeing as how I was raised a Catholic :)). However, I will kind of try. Obviously I can't speak for everyone who frequents this forum, but I think MJism is very diverse when it comes to beliefs and, um, level of Jewishness (if...

hi! new here - and i need some help

DaTsar: I am glad for you (and your mother) that she saw ^^. And thank you. Hmm, I had just never heard of a third resurrection before. btw, and this is sort of on the subject - I've always been curious - what exactly constitues blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? On Lazarus: Yes, it...

hi! new here - and i need some help

DaTsar - hmm, I'm wondering if we should make a new thread for this? Anyway, I've read the first bit of this (http://www.christianforums.com/t58735) and I'm slightly confused on the third resurrection. I had a sort of inkling there would be two, but I've never heard of a third before. So...

hi! new here - and i need some help

Before, I go on to say anything further, I just want to thank you both for having patience with me. And yes, my day has improved, and not a little by your replies. Rabbi Cohen, thank you for explaining the Noahide law to me (in whatever depth). I sort of realized that they are, in a sense...

hi! new here - and i need some help

Ok, I have to leave in about twenty minutes so this will be short: If these noahide laws are all a gentile has to follow, then what is the point of going deeper and observing the Torah? Rabbi Cohen says sanctification results from it, but what is sanctification really? I guess what I'm really...

hi! new here - and i need some help

BenTsion: Thanks again for your suggestion, and I'd probably be going to the bookstore after I got my money anyhow...so I am going to take a look at the very least! Especially since you recommend it, and what you say about it, and...right. :D DaTsar: Do you remember your pre-made post, that I...
