I will say that I find it very frustrating not to be able to find quality "friends"

With all of my "friends", I dont ever seem to hear from them except when they need a favor or want to talk to me about a problem...other than that, I never hear from them. This to me doesn't seem like friendship. When I need someone to talk to, none of my "friends" are available. Advice??

Thanks guys. Its not even him never being romantic, but it should be fairly easy to be thoughtful. You can be thoughtful to a stranger. He expects certain things and even though I am not the "lovey dovey" type, I modified my way to accomodate him to make him happy.
