  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Life lessons?

I found this amusing: Prayers not being answered? Free life lessons from Atheists Inc. Assuming it's not just some atheist(s) messing around, what is the likelihood that an intelligent person can dispense wisdom to someone they've never met via internet classifieds? It seems to me...

    Christians and veterans...

Ah, so what you each seem to be saying is that Jesus is not the peace-loving pacifist/hippy from days of yore but rather a man who condones killing and warfare? I must say that is at least consistent with the bloodthirsty God of the OT. Under what conditions would you imagine that Jesus...

    Jesus vs. The Old Testament

So women should marry their rapists? Which LAW are you talking about...the OT or modern law? In other words, if the OT laws (i.e. God's laws) are no longer to be followed...why? Smoking is legal by the way.

    Christians and veterans...

Considering that today is Veteran's Day in the U.S., I'm curious if Christians consider soldiers dishonorable: According to the Bible, Jesus disapproved of violence. Soldiers kill. They do not turn the other cheek, and in their battles with men and women of other nations (and occasionally...

    Jesus vs. The Old Testament

There are obviously a lot of "old laws" in scripture, like: or …yet most of the Christians that I’ve talked to say that Jesus essentially overturned or nullified these kinds of laws (which many nowadays consider immoral). Is there truth in this? Where is it supported in the New Testament?

    The End of Marriage

Yes, the people have spoken. Slightly over half of the CA voters have very specifically stated in unison, "We are bigots!" and the whole world has heard them. Not something to be proud of in my opinion. No, you're missing the point and on two levels no less. First, the paradigm is shifting. The...

    Christian marriage

Mark 10:6-9 "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female. 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, Brilliant! But why then did God create divorce? How do two separate phenotypes become one? Is this a referrence to skin grafting or...

    Faith is sin.

I think this is highly relevant today considering the anti-human-rights activist turnout at the polls. How would one reconcile the belief that faith is "good" when it causes them to do "bad" things?

Christian mothers killing babies: the virtue of abortion?

I think in his case it is. Meanwhile, speaking of abortions, anti-choice propositions got slammed this year. Progress...

    The End of Marriage

Congratulations to those of you who voted YES ON 8...the term "marriage" which you have sought to protect will now become synonymous with "ignorance" and "bigotry". Is that what you wanted? Look, I'm a heterosexual male in my late twenties. I've occasionally considered the possibility that one...

Christian mothers killing babies: the virtue of abortion?

So then, would you say that it is rational and consistent for a Christian mother to terminate her young (born or unborn) as soon as possible?

Christian mothers killing babies: the virtue of abortion?

Ah, but it is not a matter of "no life" as you say. If one believes in an immortal soul, then death is simply a point on one extreme of a very, very, very long (i.e. eternal) timeline...and not an ending (as you are implying). Is it not true that Christians tend to value the next LIFE more...

Christian mothers killing babies: the virtue of abortion?

While talking to a Christian about the ethics of abortion, it occurred to me that most of the Christians I’ve heard of seem to be contradictory in their anti-choice arguments. Here’s why: 1) If you believe that an unborn is essentially a life, then it is the mother’s child. 2) If the mother...

    Faith is sin.

No. You are assuming (or trying to convince yourself) that beliefs are equal...which they are not. Why give credibility to brain in a vat...why not brain in a 1982 Toyota Corolla? Why not brain in an orbiting teapot? It is because these ideas, when examined critically have no plausibility and...
