  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Food For The Brain

This charity has dietary advice for people with dyslexia and dyspraxia, and other disorders. For example I had no idea that fresh orange juice can be a trigger of migraines and ADHD. http://www.foodforthebrain.org/content.asp?id_Content=1636

    Introduce yourselves

Thanks Buttermilk and Amoeba. :) I have a lot of traits in common with dyspraxics, not much with dyslexics except that it takes me longer than it should to read and write. My assessment has been formally requested, so now I'm just waiting for it to be arranged.

    Introduce yourselves

Hi everyone  I'm here because I've realised some of the ways I function are different in ways that are potentially diagnosable and I intend to ask at my college (UK definition of 'college') for some kind of assessment. Dyspraxia is one of the syndromes I think my symptoms might fall...

What are your thoughts on Hypnagogia & Sleep Paralysis?

Edit: Sorry I thought you were talking to me. The username and date didn't register.

What are your thoughts on Hypnagogia & Sleep Paralysis?

My thoughts about them? 1. Probably the scariest experiences of my life, and the lives of many others. The hallucinations are as vivid as real life. 2. Definitely not dreams or nightmares. There's just no comparison. They feel to have more in common with real life danger than nightmares, the...

    Why Should I Love God?

If I may quote wonderwaleye's signature (I'm sure he won't mind :)): “ Believe “ in Greek is a verb and has three components which are: hearing, accepting, and then acting ( COMMITING ) upon that which you have accepted.

Thoughts On Spiritual Gifts - Tongues, Prophecy, Faith-Healing

Jesus only seemed to heal as a sign or to build people's faith. He could have ended all suffering all around the world forever with a single prayer, but what would have been the point of that? Suffering serves purposes in the world, one of them being as a sign to doubters. I don't think we...

    Why Should I Love God?

I do think it's possible for humans to not sin. Proving that may even be one of the reasons Jesus Christ was begotten. The fact that no one else has chosen to deny the genetic, carnal and selfish desires of the flesh that we inherit from Adam and Eve does not mean that we are unable. Someone on...

    Question for atheists, really...

Yes. It took a while, and it was far from what I ever wanted to believe, but eventually I couldn't deny it anymore. That's undenible, but they don't necessarily choose to believe in God specifically because it allows them to maintain this egocentric view. Some probably do, but personally I...

    sinless children

That's the sort of thing that I don't define as sin. I define sin as wilful selfishness. It can also be defined as an action with a negative consequence, which we may or may not be held accountable for. This difference is probably where apparent disagreement is coming from in this thread, IMO. :)

    sinless children

But at what point does self-centredness become selfishness and sin? If you don't realise that there are conscious beings outside of yourself, it's impossible not to be self-centred, isn't it? Only when someone makes that decision to love themselves above others and God do they sin. Was Jesus...

    What is Atonement?

It is offered to me in the sense that if I reject it, the opportunity for forgiveness (debtlessness) won't be forced upon me. The judge might commend the one making the offering but punish the non-compliant criminals anyway. The prison is analogous for Hell. Only if the payment of the fine...

    What is Atonement?

I think of it like this: If someone commits a crime that can be payed for either by a fine or by imprisonment, and someone else gets them enough money to pay the fine, the criminal still has the option of rejecting the offer. They can refuse to hand this money to the authorities. Suppose the...

    sinless children

I don't think it's possible for any individual to sin until/unless they can appreciate that there are other conscious beings out there. The second someone is aware that they are not alone in their ability to feel, they have the option of behaving selfishly, not loving God with everything they...

    Leviticus and the old laws

These issues puzzle me too. I intend to research the theories behind Messianic Judaism soon. Maybe they can shed some light.
