  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    victorinus

Hi, I'm getting a little late on the discussion, but I would like to point out that Victorinus said that the apostle John wrote the Apocalypse. "Therefore, doubtless, there are appointed also twelve angels of the day and twelve angels of the night, in accordance, to wit, with the number of...

    Pretrib refute from the ECF

I think you are opposing heretical hyper-preterism. Correct?

    Pretrib refute from the ECF

You say the scriptures contradict themselves. Jesus said the scriptures can't be broken. You say the NT explains things, and yet you give verses that you say contradict unless you explain them. I don't see anything in your post that is compelling or that even makes sense. I say the scriptures...

    Pretrib refute from the ECF

I don't know why everybody thinks it is such a great post. All Biblewriter did is point out a bunch of scriptures he doesn't understand and he feels they are inconsistent. When I point out scriptures to him he simply says they don't matter.

Scripture prophesies a future temporary earthly kingdom.

I think in this thread you've been giving scriptures without conclusions, but I'll look back through and see if I missed anything.

    Pretrib refute from the ECF

Maybe it is not so much about what has been revealed, but who it has been revealed to. 1Cr 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1Cr 2:10 But God hath revealed [them]...

I would guess that a summary isn't very convincing. That's why the filibuster.

What the early church actually taught. part 1

If you actually read your Bible you would agree with me.

What the early church actually taught. part 1

So you believe Jesus and the apostles are "others?" Then you shouldn't consider yourself a Christian.
  10. E

What the early church actually taught. part 1

You have proved your ideas in the same way you are proving them now. You make unfounded assertions.

What the early church actually taught. part 1

You appear to be completely uninformed on these matters. Does everybody agree on what the Bible teaches? The Bible canon we have today was overseen after Rome adopted the church. I'm not saying the Bible is wrong, I'm saying authority to interpret comes from Jesus and the apostles. ECF such as...

What the early church actually taught. part 1

In V.XXIII Irenaeus doesn't mention Psalm 90:4 at all. He discusses Adam for a whole section and a half before mentioning 2 Peter 3:8. You've already admitted that Justin mentions Adam first, so don't contradict yourself. Jubilees also develops the Adam idea first.

What the early church actually taught. part 1

I fail to see where you have refuted this literal interpretation. It is based on what Irenaeus and the scriptures literally teach.
