  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Christian marrying a muslim

I am fully aware of this, where do you think the consensus of not marrying Christians comes from? It comes from the ulema! The ulema only serves two purposes right now, divide Muslims and spread hate. The Islamic hierarchy(which should not exist to begin with) needs a religious enema

    Christian marrying a muslim

You forget the technicality that they may only marry people of the book. The Christians are presumed to practice Tawhid but they aren't monotheists. I know my Qur'an and my ahadith, I lived by it. Don't confused what is written unless taken holistically in scripture because there are always...

    Christian marrying a muslim

I was of the Hanaf'i madhabb, although I degenerated from it and became more liberal and took time to disregard the primary 4. Also they are not sects since their teachings are not the issue, it is their implimentation of fiqh which differs it is like comparing a liberal Catholic to a...

Dragon Age: Inquisition - a meta-commentary on religion

I didn't even know there was a new Dragon Age game. I though that game lost popularity or something

    Christian marrying a muslim

As a former Muslim there are some issues with this I can spot out. Modern Muslims disregard this on the basis that Christianity breaks Tawhid, the defining element on why a Muslim is permitted to have a halal relationship with a Christian woman is on the basis of Tawhid and the Trinitarian...

    Christian marrying a muslim

Well as a Left Hand Pather and also a Pagan I can say that it is very easy to have a relationship with a person of a Christian background. My brother is an atheist and married a Catholic and they have a child, the child is raised like any other Christian would raise their child . . . as an...

    Question Christianity and contemplating Islam

I have been a Christian and a Muslim and took the time to learn some Arabic and familiarize myself with Greek and Hebrew although Arabic is stronger for me. The reason I am an atheist is simple and it is because I understand the main religious of the world, Islam, Hinduism and Christianity. They...

Does God have to be real?

I never liked animism or pantheism all that much because it seems to be based on a blunder. You are relabeling something that already has a definite label. If I want a god, then I would go for a distinct being not something as naturalistic as nature. My parents weren't ultra religious just...

Does God have to be real?

Oh please. Stop nit picking. I can't believe you are still bloating over my words. Atheists make no such claim that their atheism is an intellectual choice. It is just a choice. I am not even talking about why I am an atheist which means you have not even read a single thing I said in the OP...

Does God have to be real?

I get called stupid by my mother and she wishes me to fail in life. Hatred has never bothered me the slightest considering that it was made clear as a kid that my own mother does not love me. I am far to concerned about other things than to worry about name calling :D. Personally I never...

Does God have to be real?

No idea what you just said. Please rephrase. This is the part I am curious about. Do you believe god created the world? Do you think he/she intervenes in earthly affairs? For the longest time I did not think any of these things and loved the ideal of a god. I merely accepted a...

Does God have to be real?

Sorry I am writing from the perspective of how an Atheist feels when witnessing religion behavior. It is not an insult it is just how Atheists feel often times. This is why I dislike religion. Religion has claimed nothing exclusive to it. Dogma, god, ritual and morality all predate religion...

    Question Christianity and contemplating Islam

James 1:1 "James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ: To the 12 tribes in the Dispersion. Greetings. " 1 Chronicles 6:49 "But Aaron and his sons made incense upon the altar of the burnt offering and on the altar of incense, in all the work of the holy of holies, and to make...

Does God have to be real?

As an atheist I find it shameful that theist demand that a god literally exist. To me this is just shameful considering that the Easter Bunny, Santa and numerous fictional characters do not exist yet they are meaningful to many people. Why must god be real for it to be meaningful? To me...
