  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Should we be kind to cheating spouses...???

It really depends on what you mean by kind. We aren't supposed to be a pushover, but we are supposed to do good to those who hurt us. You should take the high road and be the bigger person in this case, but that doesn't mean you agree with all of his choices or condone them.

    What actually is non-denominational ?

The primary reason I went from being raised Methodist, to going to a Non-Denominational church is that I saw the book of doctrine for the Methodists was thicker than our Bible...which was a problem. Obviously we all abide by certain doctrine no matter what you do, but I feel for the time being...

Why are there 217 different denominations in the US?

Look at a simple town or community, I would say that most denominations don't interact with eachother. While I have seen it on occasion, it tends to stand out as an oddity to see the Methodists, Baptists, Catholics, and Non-Denominations all working together. Like I said, I have see it happen...

    Difference in views in Christianity

As long as it's not close handed issues, like the saving grace of Jesus sacrifice, or the trinity, then they're differences we can discuss but shouldn't divide over. Obviously there is a correct answer to the questions that come up, but I believe it grieves God when he see's his children...

The unnecessary fear of God since Jesus is my buddy ?

I agree that too many people see God as their buddy, instead of somebody who loves you...but is to be respected. By God calling himself "Father", it really is a great picture because I know my earthly father loves me...but I have a healthy respect and fear...so to speak...of him.

Why are there 217 different denominations in the US?

Because it ends up becoming too much about traditions and not the gospel. We also love to take shots are other denominations on open handed issues. Let us not forget that we have an enemy...and if he can't stop the church then he'll at least do all he can to divide it. Can you imagine how...

God, the Father, God the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit?

This is definitely a question to cause your brain to hurt ;). It's like asking how is God outside of time...it's just not something our minds can comprehend. I would say they're equal and have different roles to play. Beyond that, it's something I don't think any of us will fully wrap our...

    New Living Translation

I personally primarily read the ESV Bible, but I do own several other translations. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the ESV, but I will go to my NLT to see an alternative translation that could provide insight and clarity.

i dont date him if he's not a christian- is this a bad idea?

A lot of it simply comes down to, do you trust that God will provide you a husband if that's his will? If it's his will that you find a strong, spiritual leader to be your husband, then he will provide one for you. Lowering your standards is simply not trusting God.

    Struggling with my Faith

The more you trust God, the more you'll realize that Jesus is all you need in your life to satisfy. Losing friends, a boyfriend, and family relationships is extremely difficult, but frankly it's nothing next to the reward of Jesus and hearing the words "Well done good and faithful servant"...

    Help

I don't see a love of fantasy as a problem as long as it's not your primary focus or obsession. C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien are the classic examples of men who loved God and fantasy. The thing about fantasy is that when it's written well, you can gain spiritual insights about God through it...

    how to deal?

I get along with my boss for the most part. I do always worry that if I were to change jobs that I would just end up with a boss that is even worse. I tend to not like where I am, but often don't see it worth the risk of moving on.
