At what point can Protestants say the early/medieval church is not our church?

I would ask why would anyone want to say that their church isn't from the early church? After all isn't the goal of conservative Christians to perform historic orthodoxy both in teaching and practice? I've been a part of evangelical churches and the early writings of Christians are generally...

    Persona and other random games

Hey Ignatius. Yeah I got to say when I got to the ending it made me feel a certain way as well. The game deals with a lot of Gnostic themes so this reflects it. I did a some research on it and it seems in Gnostic literature the Demiurge is depicted as the evil one while Satanali is depicted as...

    Christian Nihilism

Good thoughts Ignatius. I agree that without God it really does make sense to conclude that there isn't much meaning in anything. I couldn't help but notice that you are Orthodox. I recently have been having some discussions with some Orthodox Christians and the view on Death. You see with my...

    Original and Ancestral Sin

But isn't the lack of spiritual life lead people to Hell in the west?

    Christian Nihilism

I think the highlighting isn't the negative aspects but rather just understanding that without God there would be no objective meaning. Just a way to view the world around us.

    Faithfulness vs belief (pistos)

Friend whether its pistos, pisteou, or pisits it really doesn't make a difference to me. Personally I don't see language as that formal. To me we formalize based on how it is used. I am not sure if you were trying to help me or anyone else when you say things like you said. Just because I didn't...

Some kind of weird Protestant (I am)

Thanks for the reply. I used to be part of the Baptist denomination myself. Did you once use to be a protestant?

There is basically only 3 real major denominations

The distinction being "we all sin every now again" to someone remaining in unrepentant. I think you answered it. I was just curious and I agree.

    Faithfulness vs belief (pistos)

I could ask you the same thing. I have studied if for myself if that is what you are asking. Check out my blog post with my reasonings if you think I am just repeating something I heard. No offense, but I all have received from you so far, for the most part, is you trying to lead me through a...

Some kind of weird Protestant (I am)

I believe quite a few verses in the epistles where the word faith is used it actually is in reference to Christ. In other words we are saved by His faith(fulness). I think our response it supposed to be faithfulness to Him and God. Hope that helps.

I am. Can you engage with what I am saying too?

Thanks for this. So would you understand that our sin warrants us to be condemned by God or just living in unrepentant continual sin? Thanks for all of the prayers and liturgy. Super helpful.

    Faithfulness vs belief (pistos)

I understand what you are saying but it doesn't seem to be the biblical usage, I don't think. Would you use some biblical texts to show me why you think the authors used it your way?
