  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Difference between High Church and Anglo-Catholic and can Anglo-Catholics identify as Protestants?

Whenever there is talk on Anglo-Catholicism Vs Evangelicalism, you often hear or read that one emphasises the Catholic nature of the Anglican church and the other emphasises the Protestant nature, but can (or are) Anglo-Catholics still considered Protestants? Do AC's see themselves as Protestant...

Why can men not cover their heads whilst praying?

So would you say it is permissible for a male to cover his head whilst praying unless a prayer specifically requires them not to?

Why can men not cover their heads whilst praying?

Hi all, I'm not Orthodox, but in my experience on this site (it's been some years since I've been on) I feel that the Orthodox really know their stuff. So my question is about men covering their heads while they pray. I know that St Paul elaborates on this and says that men who cover whilst...

Catholics Only: Please help me to learn how to do a Catholic morning devotion

You're welcome. If you start small and simple, then build up, you are more likely to stick with it and have a better prayer life than if you were to jump head first into the more complicated stuff. An added idea is the Jesus Prayer, as somebody else mentioned. Many monks will say this simple...

Catholics Only: Please help me to learn how to do a Catholic morning devotion

There are no rules when it comes to how you pray (unless you pray the divine office which at this stage in your journey would be too much for you). In the morning, you could just sit/stand/kneel before a crucifix and meditate for a few minutes on the life of Jesus. Perhaps say the Our Father...

    Prayer request! *Sensitive topic*

Hi everybody, so today has been a rather sad day for my family. We have found out that my uncle (dads younger brother) has committed suicide and his wife also is in hospital after an overdose. We don't know what the circumstances behind any of this were. We found out that my uncle has been...

Mother! (The movie). Anyone see it?

I think I sortttttt of enjoyed it, maybe? I really haven't made my mind up. Theology and depictions of God excluded, I do think there's something great about it in its symbolism about humans and what we always do. It was an interesting journey from the viewpoint of the earth. I dunno, many...

Mother! (The movie). Anyone see it?

When watching the movie recently I was absolutely baffled about what was going on. Long story short. Father is God and Mother is Mother earth and earth is the house. God lets Adam & Eve (Pheiffer) in despite not asking Mother. Enter the sons (Cain & Abel)....Cain kills Abel. Later Father (God)...

Super creepy poster for "gay" conference reveals agenda

Are people seriously getting all uncomfortable because of a boy and a mans hand? Sounds to me like the only warped minds are those that have come to such a conclusion by looking too far into something and then creating a situation that does not even exist. Classic case of scapegoating the...

Validity of Orders & the Real Presence

I don't think it is a matter purely for the RCC as it affects Anglicans and so it is also a question for them to state why the RC position is incorrect on the validity of their orders. I'm intrigued that you have chosen to use the term 'transubstantiation' since this is not the Orthodox...

Validity of Orders & the Real Presence

Hi guys, So this is a bit of a two part question. Being raised in the Roman Church, we were always made aware that the Romans had valid orders and the real presence of Christ in the eucharist (as well as the Orthodox), and that Anglicans do not have either. This kind of ingraining into RC's...

Icelandic Catholic leaders condemn ‘anti-Semitic’ circumcision law

And yet there is ample proof that foreskin does not prevent that from happening.

Icelandic Catholic leaders condemn ‘anti-Semitic’ circumcision law

This is probably your worst and most petty take yet. Nobody is even trying to say it should be completely banned. It should be banned for children who can not make the decision and no parent should be able to decide that for a child. If this was any other procedure you'd be all up in arms...

Icelandic Catholic leaders condemn ‘anti-Semitic’ circumcision law

Irrelevant. There are a lot of traditions in the Bible that we now deem barbaric or unnecessary. There of plenty of links that say the exact opposite too. Links are a game of back and forth. Most circumcised people don't even know what its like to have foreskin since it was taken at a young...
