  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Does OCD cause headaches?

I never had headaches until these thoughts came around. I can only imagine that with the stress of unwanted thoughts running through your head at blazing speeds and the emotional strain, migraines are only natural. Just like intense studying, this can cause headaches.

    Don't see how

Then, quite sadly, they are deceived. Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 As for the question of the chosen, my understanding is as follows. Now don't go calling this 100% true as this is only my current grasp...

    It's been hard lately...

Hermit, I hope I can be of some service to you by God's grace. 1) Yes. They tend to come up much more negative than they really were. The thoughts will always highlight the one mistake over one hundred good things. 2) I don't believe so. [WARNING --- POTENTIAL SPIKE-MATERIAL ---...

    Don't see how

Raven, Would you allow me to pose a suggestion to you. Have you asked God to reveal Himself to you? Many doubters and skeptics came to know Christ by saying something along the lines of... "God. I don't even know if You're there. But if You are, I really want to know You. Please let me...

    OCD about assurance of salvation

So when you are level headed, you know you are saved, but when you get mind fog, you aren't sure, right? Then simply (and I've been there before, so I know it's not so simple) hold on to the non-disordered thoughts. Pray to God that He may help you walk in spite of doubts. He can strengthen...

    Worried About Spike

Dear Hermit, Please do consider these words. I've also suffered from similar thoughts, so I know your torment. However, I found God's own Word to be my greatest comfort. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing...

    Is this OCD?

Listen to Brother Sammy and tripletiger. I have had these same thoughts myself. I once had a thought of pushing someone down the stairs. I have also had thoughts of inflicting damage on myself and such. Spending time with the Lord in prayer and meditation upon His Word is the best way to...

    The big "What If"

@ThankGod: Amen on the strengthened faith, brother. Hey simon, The "What-ifs", or "the doubts" as I call it do come around with these unwanted thoughts. They were the ones that hit me the most at first. Concerning the distance, I have found that a couple things can cause...

These Thoughts Need To Stop :/

Dear Frank, I've had those thoughts too. I've known about the illuminati and rappers and stuff, but I never had those thoughts pass thru until recently. All I can say is that God is still with me and I know that Jesus hasn't left me. Selling one's soul is a determined action with one's...

    OCD about assurance of salvation

Hi there, Grant. I will attempt, by God's grace, to clarify your questions. 1) Memory... I never had memory lapses, per se, but I did have huge bouts of doubt which would quickly overshadow whatever confirmation God had just recently given me. For instance, one day God would greatly...

    pretty much no hope

Yep. I'm learning this myself. Amen! Nice find. Paul said it himself... What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ Philippians 3:8

    Still a mess :(

Dear HopingforJesus, By God's grace I will try to explain as best I can. God doesn't look down on you for something you are struggling with, even what may be considered a mental illness. From what you say, I can insinuate that you are questioning whether mental illness is really an...

Not sure I can make it

Hey there. Tripletiger, I know what you mean. I've also had those thoughts run through my head, and sometimes they are even combined with feelings, making them all the more frightening. But they are unwanted thoughts. In fact, Martin Luther had the same thoughts, if that's any comfort...

    Asking For Forgiveness...

It is. I have also found that I am very self-condemning at times. I sometimes forget to forgive myself, which is a form of unforgiveness. If Jesus Christ died for my sins and God, being perfectly just, accepts His blood as atonement, then what right have I to hold my own already-forgiven...
