  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can a Christian be a Freemason???

What Freemasons say they believe in and what they practice are not the same. They say they believe in God. But they were first formed in the Temple of Isis as a sort of union to keep stop others from obtaining work that they wanted. They are not allowed to name Jesus at their ceremonies. The...

Why "good" people don't go to heaven

Not to take away from your point, but Jesus was talking about why he was always seen with bad people. You make a good point though. Being good isn't always enough. Jesus also said, though you cast out demons in my name, I know you not. Christianity is not about trying to be sinless, or pointing...

Birth control pills given to middle school students?

From a non-religious view point, I think it takes us to another yet lower level of welfare statism where we expect the government to regulate our lives for us. Not really a good train of thought for an advanced open society of free thinkers. From a biblical point of view, this country doesn't...

Are Christians allowed to lie sometimes?

To answer your question truthfully, we are all allowed to choose. However, we all live and die by the choices we make. Would you forsake the kingdom of heaven for a few "white lies"? Think about that which is more important to you before you lie again. Jesus is your judge also, or do you feel...

    Tithing?

I would like to talk about tithing. I know it's a popular practice these days, but seriously, is it truly a Christian act? If you read what the Bible actually describes as tithing you will see that it doesn't necessarily describe what's going on in the Christian Church these days. Tithing was...

Is the message of Christ Pacifism?

Pacifism is a term most commonly used by those who promote violence as a way to peace. There is no such thing as a "just war". To wage war for nationalism is to sit in judgment of others. That is against Christianity, regardless of how many churches agree with it. Chaos is not the path to peace...

    This bugs me...the chosen people

God did not so much choose them as a people but as the "chosen" descendent's of Abraham. They were chosen by God to keep God's promise that He made to Abraham. They are descended from Abrahams' son Isaac. That is the covenant of the OT. God chose Abraham, and granted him the covenant because he...

    Masonic Behaviour

As for you, you have said in your heart, To the heavens I shall go up. Above the stars of God I shall lift up my throne, and I shall sit down upon the mountain of meeting, in the remotest parts of the north. I shall go up above the high places of the clouds; I shall make myself resemble the Most...

    Question to Baha'is

I would like to put in my two cents worth on this subject. I have been studying the Bahai Faith for some time. It is quite a bit like Christianity in that they strive for the unity and equality of all. Although Christ is our Redeemer, The Bahai Faith is not far from the way of life as Christ...

    Future

The Catholic Church has tortured and burned people alive at the stake. You want to tell me they were not Christians? In Ireland, Catholics and Protestants commit great acts of terrorism and violence, they were not Christians either? I beg to differ. The ignorance is not mine. The Law of God is...

    Future

Are you seriously going to tell me that Christian churches down through the ages have done none of these things? If you were Christians at heart and not just religious bigots, you would follow the teachings of Christ and not judge others. Who are you that you can set yourself above anyone...

    Future

Back in 1984 I had a vision. It's not my first, but it seems relevant to talk about it now. I saw that NYC was burning and the smoke went up to the north. I had almost forgotten about it until 911. I had another one a few weeks ago, not sure what to make of it. The US as Gog would be attacked...

A friend has cancer- now what?

Your friends' passing is not your fault. You have nothing to feel guilty about. Your friend obviously wanted to pass on without a big fuss being made. You respected that. Remember your friend for the friendship, I'm sure that's how your friend would have wanted it. Besides, you will have the...

    Nationalism and Jesus.

I have noticed that many today confuse nationalism with patriotism. One can be a patriot without being a nationalist. E.g.; I can be a patriot for the cause of democracy, but not a nationalist for the Bush Administration's cause for war. I believe that unity should be the cause of all...
