  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can Anglicans discus anything here without being told we are shcismatics?

There are more people to talk to over here, that's the main difference. Many times when I come to this site there is no-one to talk to on the STR side but there are at least 30 people viewing on the RC side! This section is very popular. It is also a reflection of the situation in the...

    Holy Water ??

Sorry to go off on a tangent a bit but does anyone know whether Jordan River Water is purified before they put it in bottles and sell it? My friend's husband has been sprinkling it on his new born baby and we are all quite worried about the implications of this (i.e. neonatal gastro-enteritis -...

Just curious - how many of you had a sung Mass for Easter

Although I was persuaded (by my husband) to go to a Roman Catholic church for Easter Sunday, we were fortunate enough to attend a church in a very traditional English town in the UK. I was delighted to have been permitted to sing "All Glory Laud and Honor to thee Redeemer King" plus other...

Non Practasing Catholics raising their children Catholic.

I think that it is better for the children to be brought up with some sort of religion than not any religion at all. Jesus said: "Let the children come to me and do not stop them."

    Birth Control

Thank you! Everything I say is true (as far as I am aware). I'm so glad that you believe me. I was accused of lying, recently, in another section. That upset me a lot because I do NOT lie. I always try to help people by telling them of my life experiences. :groupray:

Prayers, please...I cannot make it without them

I'm very, very sorry to hear this. I did not realise how difficult it was for a priest to be laicized. I hope that, with time, God will help you to accept this and I also pray for your brother, that he may be able to come through this. I pray that he will, eventually, be granted permission to be...

Do Anglicans say the Hail Mary and the RC Rosary?

I agree so much with what you have said. Thank you.

    Birth Control

Because it does not make sense. It is easy to understand why abortificient contraception such as IUDs are wrong but it is almost impossible to understand why condoms are wrong. This is especially difficult to comprehend in cases where women are middle-aged with half a dozen children already...

 So my priests and the Cardinal were correct then (in sympathising with me and condoning my use of barrier contraception)?

    Question about contraception

He was talking about barrier contraception such as condoms, caps, diaphragms, etc, NOT abortificient contraception.

    Birth Control

The pill is, certainly, not very good for people. It can cause all sorts of serious side effects. For one, it can make the woman feel pretty awful for quite a few months or longer. I had a school friend who died from taking the pill. She had a thrombosis. The pill can also cause strokes and...

    Bad poetry thread...share yours!

We do not all fit the mould We do not all shine like gold Some of us are timid Some of us are bold. But God loves us anyway No matter what we say No matter who we are Because He made us that way. So let us love each other Each sister and each brother Stop the fighting now You sound just like...

Do Anglicans say the Hail Mary and the RC Rosary?

I've been meaning to go to the Anglican Catholic church for a while now. Unfortunately it is quite far from where I live. By Catholic Anglicans do you mean Anglicans in the Catholic tradition or former Roman Catholics (or both)?

Do Anglicans say the Hail Mary and the RC Rosary?

Thank you so much. Your posts are always so informative and interesting. They inspire me to take up theology. It's very frustrating to have had false perceptions all these years.

    Birth Control

Well this is news to me. For the past 25 years, amongst my female Roman Catholic friends, it has been common knowledge that the Pope was talking about the pill. Even the priests advised us of this. (It was not known, until recently, that the combined pill was an abortificient.) Personally, I...
