  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Question for Atheists

Well, you have to try Monkfish liver (also known as Ankimo). If you don't mind that Pate' texture, it is a great dish. You can usually find it at Sushi resturants (it is cooked).

Which books do you recommend for learning and researching the basics of evolution and

If you were looking for something that was evo vs cre, i'd recommend Evolution vs. Creationism : An Introduction by Eugenie Scott. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0520246500/sr=8-1/qid=1140217238/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-1388964-7454433?%5Fencoding=UTF8 I have not read it, but i recently went to a...

    Question about limits of evolution:

Oh yes, i do beleive you are correct. I would consider viruses and mutatable self-replicating organic compounds able to undergo evolution. I suppose my inquiry of life/non-life is for another debate.

    Question about limits of evolution:

It's a hard one to nail. Not because there isn't evidence, but because it is hard to define "what is life?" Should we consider self replicating nucleic acids under evolution? They certianly are being selected for, but they're just compounds, much like a virus (which the general scientific...

You Darwin Huggers - EXPLAIN THIS!!!

It turns out evolution is done with. What ancient myth do we turn to now?

Can anyone tell me if evolution has ever been shown correct on any occasion?

That is what science is all about & that's why i love it.

Can anyone tell me if evolution has ever been shown correct on any occasion?

I was thinking along the lines of: If the chromosomes of closely relates species can combine (like in the case of a donkey and a horse) is there a way to extrapolate the possiblity of succefully mating, and therefore the susseful recombining of chromosomes, of two other closely related species...

    Evolution caught in the act

Just in case people didn’t know, U Michigan is having a theme semester focusing on evolution. The theme semester tries to have all classes incorporate some aspect of evolution into the curriculum, if possible. Additionally, speaker from all over the scientific community are coming in to...

Can anyone tell me if evolution has ever been shown correct on any occasion?

I’m not too sure about the physical limitations barrier. Sometimes it is important, but in other situations what is important is the size of the mother. I’m sure you know about hinnies and mules, but let me illustrate my point for drifters. Both hinnies and mules are crosses between horses and...

Can anyone tell me if evolution has ever been shown correct on any occasion?

Would you care to elaborate? When has evolution been “wrong” as you say? The way I see it, the bible has been wrong much more. Did a worldwide flood happen? Is the Earth flat? Does the surface of the earth stand on pillars in which God shakes when he is angry? Do rabbit chew their cud? Kinda...

    If ID is a theory

Alright, define intelligence and give us a way to measure it. If it is so obvious this should be an easy and unrefutable task.

What things can't ID explain? What things can't evolution explain? Bring it on!

Between species – It’s when two individuals from two different populations (male and female) cannot produce a fertile offspring. The infertility is due to the inability to correctly regulate their development & form germ cells. Depends on how you define a fish. I don’t quite understand what...

    Raelians

Well I suppose we’ll just have to wait eh? A good religion (at least one that wants to perpetuate itself only on self validation) will keep predictions as ambiguous as it can. By doing that, the lifetime of the religion will be extended because naysayers won’t be able to disprove anything. I...
