  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Young earth, old universe

I've thought on this subject a great deal. Everything the Bible claims could have been done in a very short period of time if God utilized his full authority over all of the physics involved. What is becoming more interesting to me is how science continues to uncover more mysteries than it...

Seperated???I'm paying for everything. What to do?

I haven't been on in a while. I've been crazy busy. I still pray for you and I'm saddened by what you continue to go through. The only place to find rest is in Christ. As far as separation as a solution for protecting what is left of your personal financial profile, well, I would...

I am so mentally tired...Please help

Every situation is different but I think you are right that something more is at work here. I agree that fathers are more strict with daughters. When a stepfather attempts to deal with parenting a stepchild, I think there may be a feeling of an absence of power/authority due to the fact that...

married for 6 months, wife cheated

I found out about a similar issue with my wife last September. It was really hard to take, especially when she got defensive about it and tried to make it somehow my fault. We have worked really hard to get past the whole thing and stay together. New Years eve though, I brought up the issue...

    How much information?

In my situation, the drive behind my "need" to know became almost a sickness. I did find out things that put images in my head that are still troubling. A part of me says, I didn't really need to know about that, but another part of me says I never have to wonder whether or not I got the full...

What Are You Getting Your Spouse/SO For Christmas?

I like the COD 5 World at War idea. I just dropped the hint to my wife! I have no idea what to get her. I'm thinking a nice bracelet or earrings and maybe something from the Pittsburgh Steelers catalog. She is a Steelers nut.

Really long post, looking for insight.

Oh and no, it wasn't your fault. My wife tried that, "I'm entering my sexual prime" and you are always...... There is absolutely no reason she couldn't have initiated anything she wanted with me. Instead, she would leave our bed in the night and go upstairs and get on her computer. She...

Really long post, looking for insight.

The events from your pov are disturbing. From a biblical perspective, you have every right to divorce her. Looking back, there were events where you elected to try and keep things together only to learn later on that she was still involved in extramarital affairs. I would agree, based on what...

    When is it realistic...

You have rules now and if the day comes and your teen declares they are going to continue to live at home and no longer abide by those rules, well, one of you is going to set the rules. Who will it be? I agree that it is best to give them a safe place while preparing them for adulthood and...

My husband is verbally abusive to my 15 year old!

Hmm, when I "get on her case" I don't yell, call her names (I did years ago) or even lecture her. I too worry about the depression and I have pressed my wife as much as I believe I can to get her into counseling. Monday night I got up about midnight, went into the family room and caught her...

    I need help

Perhaps his boy will come as a grandson. My best friend had 3 girls, was disappointed he didn't get a boy the 3rd try but he was all about the girls after that. His oldest daughter gave him a grandson last year and I think he grandpa's little guy.

    ...the Valley

Heh, Kolyfoyneea as Arnold says, is working hard on making sure no state workers get laid off or any programs get cut, so they are talking about tripling the car tax, raising sales tax to 10%. 75% of Californians are against the tax increases, but we keep putting nut jobs in the legislature who...

So where do we go from here?

I've followed your posts for some reason. There was just something so tragic in the story or perhaps the language. I dunno. Anyway, it is so refreshing to hear how your husband is responding. I remember your post about asking him to leave. I just felt so defeated. Now I'm encouraged again...

My husband is verbally abusive to my 15 year old!

My suggestion for you is to steer away from characterizing your husband as abusive and try and understand what is at the core of his behavior. While characterizing your husbands behavior as abusive, you have characterized your son's as typical. Does typical mean your husband has to back down...

My husband is verbally abusive to my 15 year old!

My stepdaughter is 18 and at this point it doesn't appear she is headed for much of a life. I have tried to get my wife to take action but nothing changes. This kid has NO responsibilities. No job, no school (though she says she is still taking 4 units, down from the original 15 she...
