  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Feeling abandoned by God

I've been in a depression for going on 7-8 months now. I'm recently diagnosed bipolar, and am under a pdocs care. But I have been struggling with the fact that I feel very abandoned by God; every time it looks like things are starting to get brighter, and things get worse. Does anyone else...

    Questions for the conservative Lutherans..

So, I was reading a write up concerning the difference between the Lutheran and Calvinist views on soteriology. And I have to admit that I find the Lutheran view to make more sense to myself. Can you guys explain to me some of the main differences between Lutherans and Calvinists? Especially...

for Lutherans and Reformed only - Romans vs. James

James 2:14–26Faith without Works Is Dead. James continues the theme that hearing/faith must lead to doing/works. It may seem that James contradicts Paul’s “by grace you have been saved through faith . . . not a result of works” (Eph. 2:8–9). In reality there is no contradiction between faith and...

    Passion and Emotion in worship....

So, after a conversation I was having this morning, it got me thinking, and I would love to hear what folks would have to say on this. How are we to respond to people that claim Reformed churches lack passion and emotion for God?

How did you became a Calvinist?

That's the thing; for me, I was raised Roman Catholic.

    A Good Woman

I feel sad, for how badly you must have been treated in life to have this cynical a view of men, marriage and God. Because, whether you like it or not, the more you rail against the roles defined in scripture, the more you rail against God Himself. Unfortunately, your kind of attitude towards...

How did you became a Calvinist?

Heh, it was easy for me, I started studying the Bible. I cannot see how people can read Scripture and come to some of the other conclusions they do.

"Let's Study" series, Banner Of Truth

Well, I am finding it very hard to find any kind of good Reformed Bible studies out there, sadly. Plenty of stuff online, but I want him off the computer :P

"Let's Study" series, Banner Of Truth

Does anyone happen to have this series of books they'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price? I want to use them to start teaching my son.

    A Good Woman

Well, first off, sadly, we're not in God's kingdom yet. Secondly, you're basically making the whole point that I have been trying to regarding both sides doing and sacrificing in marriage.

    A Good Woman

Once again, BOTH people in a marriage leave their family, and sacrifice everything for it. THIS is biblical marriage. The reason I call your view of marriage secular, is because you complain about things dictated in the bible, in regards to the genders and marriage itself.

    A Good Woman

This is really what you find to complain about? Some things a man can't do, some things wives are meant to do as a help mate, and other things you are just as sexist saying that only wives do. BOTH people in a marriage give up their family; Both people go back to work after the vacation; BOTH...

are there any Christians who dont believe in tatoos here

I find it sad how many people on this website, when confronted with scripture that debunks their argument, just suddenly fade away from the discussion......

are there any Christians who dont believe in tatoos here

First off, once again, you are spouting off with ZERO scriptural proof. You were asked to show it previously, and still have not. Secondly, the only place in scripture which actually speaks to tattoo's is one verse in Leviticus. In this same section is a proscription against mixing linen and...

are there any Christians who dont believe in tatoos here

I challenge you to show scriptural proof of tattoo's being demon inspired. So then any time there is pork served at a church event, the Lord just turns from the event and those attending?
