  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Adapting

It disgusts me so. :( This was a very prominent factor in my (what I'd like to call) former parish. They were "uncharitable" behind the backs of those whom they deemed worthy of such hate, and were all around "bad." Personally, I'd never imagine going back to that cathedral to talk to...

    Adapting

That's a highly debatable statement. I wouldn't necessarily boil it down to the EO, though, just people in general. The EO priest I've communicated with at the local parish was VERY generous, and everyone on the forums here also seem generous, but the "Christians" at the Cathedral I went to for...

    Adapting

Interesting... The whole Church seems theologically sound and I'm extremely intrigued, but I'm always thrown off when I attend a service (only 3 to date). Perhaps I will just have to take the time.

    Adapting

If there are any Catholic to Orthodox converts here, this question is directed to you. How did you first react to the Orthodox "way" (for lack of a better term)? Everything seems so foreign to me... how did you adapt? Thanks in advance.

Well, what to say... It was long. 4-41/2hrs. A lot of standing. I liked the cathedral, though. The icons were captivating.

    20/20

I was unaware of it until my cousin informed me of it mere hours before. Missed that part! Can't say I'm surprised, regardless. Is it just me, or was Elizabeth taken aback by the man's disbelief in miracles?

Attending... unsure of what it is called... tonight at 11:30 P.M. My third ever Orthodosx service. I have decided to continue my journey towards becoming Orthodox. Please, pray for me.

Did anyone else see the special on Catholic miracles this past Friday night (last night) on 20/20? Thoughts?

Russian History they don't teach in school

Happy Day; here's the whole movie: MEGAVIDEO - I'm watching it (For anyone foreign to Megavideo, you can only watch 72 minutes at a time. When it reaches 72 minutes, refresh the page. Click the last part you saw and watch the rest. If the "You've watched 72 minutes today" message still appears...

    why are you Catholic?

More or less. I hadn't been in good health for three months at the time. There's not one thing in particular that I can remember that caused me to fall away, but I did, somehow. I can relate with the act of will idea. That wasn't too often but, especially at our church, faith was hard to...

    why are you Catholic?

Well, I've since fallen away pretty much spiritually, though I don't miss Mass. Some health issues brought to light the fact that I didn't actually believe any of it in the first place. I'm still looking, though. Praying every now and again. From my theological past, I'd found a few things that...
