  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ananias and Sapphira, Acts 5:1-11, An Exploration of Views [Video]

I don't think any of the scholars put forward in the video didn't believe the Bible story was scripture. But if one reads closely, there's a lot that isn't said: (1) It never says Ananias and Sapphira promised to give all their money (2) You never hear Ananias and Sapphira say anything (3) There...

Ananias and Sapphira, Acts 5:1-11, An Exploration of Views [Video]

This video explores a number of interpretations of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11. Two of the more fascinating interpretations are that: (1) Peter killed Ananias and Sapphira and the story is criticism of his overreach (2) The story is a dark comedy What do you think?

Why Satan/The Devil isn't actually in the Hebrew Old Testament [VIDEO]

Yes the serpent in the Garden is not the same as "the accuser" in the book of Job. "the accuser" works for God. The serpent doesn't work for God and serpents in the Ancient world did have negative connotations, hence a snake also being the foil in Gilgamesh.

Why Satan/The Devil isn't actually in the Hebrew Old Testament [VIDEO]

In the NT Satan is described as a "ruler of this world" and a prince of demons who has a kingdom of his own that works against God's kingdom. In the Hebrew Bible (at least before the Book of Enoch) "the satan" actually worked FOR God, doing the job God gave them. Similar to "the destroyer" in...

Why Satan/The Devil isn't actually in the Hebrew Old Testament [VIDEO]

This might be a little controversial for some. But this is an exploration of the language and ancient context of the Hebrew Bible and why picturing Satan as "The Devil" talking to God in Job 1-3 or in Zechariah 3 is probably not accurate. In the conceptual world of the Hebrew Bible, Satan was...

The History of John 3:16's Popularity [Video]

John 3:16 wasn't always the most popular Bible passage. But from 1800's revival sermons to the famous "Rainbow Man" in the 70's - this is the story of why John 3:16 is the most popular Bible verse. Let me know what you think.

What do you think the evil spirit in 1 Samuel 16:14 is?

I just made a video exploring this topic and I'd love to know your thoughts. Basically I think it could either have been a spiritual servant of God (not the devil or a demon) OR a description of Saul's depression.

Did Noah's Ark Steal/Borrow From Older Flood Stories?

It's certainly a possibility. I do think it's interesting though that all these ancient cultures (Babylon, Assyria, Mesopotamia etc.) use the flood story as a way of explaining the gods relationship to humans. All the stories carry more than just historical data, they carry theological...

Did Noah's Ark Steal/Borrow From Older Flood Stories?

I recently made 2 videos exploring the relationship between Noah's Ark and older ancient flood stories, mainly the Epic of Atrahasis which has been dated older than the composition of Genesis. First video looks at how Noah's Ark can be viewed as a rebuttal to the theology of other Ancient flood...
