  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Abortion compared to the holocaust

So at what point does a life become worth preserving? And your last point is moot; natural death can occur at any time from conception until old age. There is a big difference between natural death and intentional, targeted killing. And you presume a lot when you pin natural death on God.

    New Perspective on Paul.

The OP video aside, I'm interested in NPP and reconciling Paul with the Gospels and the writings of the disciples. The link for The WildBranch Ministry seems like a great source. Any more great links/books as I work toward a grand unified understanding of the Scriptures?

    Curious...

Hi Matthew, great to have you! Wishing to embrace your Jewish heritage while following the Messiah puts you in the company of the Messiah's immediate disciples and the earliest community of believers, particularly the community in Jerusalem headed by James (Jacob/Ya'akov), the brother of the...

    Hello all

Welcome, Rascus! We're all living and learning, glad to see you're joining the fun. Messianic Judaism is a diverse faith group. I liken it to Catholicism and Protestantism in that the MJ movement is turning into an umbrella grouping that contains smaller groups that share a similar space...

    The Olive Tree of Israel

For the most part, I think my beliefs are aligned with etZion and Mishkan, but I thought I would post anyways. Here goes: 1) Who are the branches? The branches that exist on the tree are believers (believers from Israel and those from the nations). The natural branches that exist on the tree...

    God is unfair to Jews?

If that be the case (and I don't know; I haven't come to a decision on the topic since it doesn't impact me directly), then what does Paul mean by 1 Cor. 7:18-19: Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called...

    Palestine for Yeshua

More interesting to me is the person that said this: "There is no such being as Yeshua in the NT. None. Sacred Name theology is utterly racist, unorthodox, and has no place in Christianity." Does he not believe that "Yeshua" was a common name at the time but that everyone walked around...

    God is unfair to Jews?

Lulav, I agree with where you're getting at. I think there are two heresies: The first being one needs to be physically circumcised in order to be saved (speaking for males). If I confess with my mouth that Yeshua died for my sins, resurrected and ascended to heaven, I keep the commands of the...

    God is unfair to Jews?

Lancaster (ffoz) offers the interpretation that Gal. 2:21 (and much of Gal.) is specifically talking about circumcision and a non-Jew's (incorrect) assumption that simply getting circumcised justifies a person since they are now a part of the chosen people. The "God-fearers" of Galatia were not...

    Reasons To Believe God

You might be talking about Kent Hovind, as he is the only one I know of who has been called "Dr. Dino" for a long time, but there could be others. I used to get into the evolution/creation debate a lot when I was in my mid- to late teens. I would read the Talk Origins (evolutionist), True...

Thoughts? VIDEO - Why I hate religion, but love Jesus

This ^^^. I was hoping this was what he was getting at. Thanks for the response, Easy G. Your suggestions and mention of things that may have been overlooked by the man in the video are certainly worthwhile considerations which get to the core of the potential issues I can see with the...

Thoughts? VIDEO - Why I hate religion, but love Jesus

Some of you may have already watched this video, which is making circles around the internet. If not, here it is: chiselseason . com/?p=768 (delete the spaces -- sorry, not enough posts for links) 12 million+ views on YouTube, all over Facebook, etc. Just wondering what you all think of it...

For all the curious.. who wish to ask Messianic Judaism believers a question..

Hi Lulav, I agree that is another verse commonly used to back up the "Torah-Law nailed to the cross" argument. However, it's not sufficient to prove such a case. One verse cannot overturn the rest of Scripture, particularly since the Messiah Himself said he did not come to abolish the Torah-Law...

For all the curious.. who wish to ask Messianic Judaism believers a question..

Compare the old rendition of the NIV for Col. 2:13-14 with the new one: Old (1984) "When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was...
