We need to fellowship more so let's visit. All respectful fellowship welcome.

Hi, everyone! I've been going to a Byzantine Catholic parish for a few weeks now, and it's starting to feel like home. I really enjoy the Divine Liturgy, and people are starting to come up and introduce themselves during coffee hour.

The "Socialist Jesus/Communist Early Church" heresy

I think the worst part of Marxism is that it believes people can be made perfect without God if only we have the right economic system. Furthermore, Progressivism in general is an attempt to create heaven on earth without God. You'd think all Christians would understand why that can't work.

    Use the Baltimore Catechism

It's also good for adult converts and reverts.

New survey: Only one-third of Catholics believe in the real presence

It would be interesting to see what the numbers are for Eastern Catholics. I've been going to an Eastern Catholic parish for the past 3 weeks. Before taking Communion, we affirm a belief in the True Presence. This is from the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrystostom: O Lord, I also believe and...

Yes we need to 'do something about mass shootings..

And for those who reason that if there were no guns there wouldn't be any mass shootings, a ban is only the first step. You then have to round up all the guns people already have. The criminals won't give up theirs willingly, and there's a few million otherwise law-abiding people who would see...

The Bible's most politically incorrect teaching (you won't like it)...

That makes me wonder what Mills was really going for, because what the article seems to be going for at face value just doesn't work, and it's not even clear how someone could think it would work. Or does he really think that helping people in need is seen by someone (I'm guessing Republicans)...

The Bible's most politically incorrect teaching (you won't like it)...

I don't know about this. It's true that most people don't do nearly enough to help those in need, but just about everyone thinks that helping people in need is a good thing to do (though they may disagree about the methods and forms of help). No one gets called a "miserphobe" (see, there's not...

    Alpha Rant

Thank you for that. I love the Eastern Divine Liturgy and will most likely move to the Eastern Rite, though there are a couple of administrative issues, like getting me confirmed and annulled, that might be better served by the TLM parish. I'll report back after talking to both priests.

So why would parishes want to use a program designed by and for charismatic Anglicans? Surely we could have created our own.

We had all of that, except without the priest there. It was the pastor who recommended I go when I went in for confession.

    Alpha Rant

I've been attending an Alpha program run by my parish. This past weekend was the retreat weekend and focused on The Holy Spirit. The Friday night session was very informative and told us about some of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Then I came back for the Saturday session and things took a turn...

    Counterfeit Catholicism

What I found most interesting about the article is the point that Catholicism is a complete system of thought. A lot of Catholics don't know that. I didn't know it myself until I read Common Sense Catholicism by Bill Donohue. Finding out about that is a big part of why I came back to the Church...

    Immigration

I'm not sure it's worth spending time arguing with someone who would have us believe that everyone who crosses the border without authorization is doing so in order to claim asylum and that none of them are crossing for economic reasons and claiming asylum when they get caught. They didn't say...

    Immigration

And that's the problem. In a democracy, the rulers aren't really the people; the real rulers are those who can influence public opinion. And it's not just a few men in a conference room deciding what to tell people. It's an ideology, secular humanism, that because it doesn't have a God can...

Faithful Catholics: Don't accept confusion about sexual morality

We have Natural Law, and the Orthodox and evangelicals for the most part don't. Maybe part of putting aside our differences is teaching them about Natural Law?
